no, you cannot report the most disgusting and shockingly vile fanfic on ao3. ao3 will not do anything about the fic, because ao3 explicitly allows it to exist on their platform.

being completely and utterly against censorship is the main core principle of ao3.

ao3 was created specifically to host and give a platform to fics that were banned on other platforms.

therefore the most disgusting and shockingly vile fanfic you find is the exact reason why ao3 was created in the first place.

here’s the list of things you need to know about ao3 if you’re new to the platform

edit: I have things I wanna add below

if you “hunt down several fics under specific tags just to report those fics” ao3 CAN consider your action an abuse of their terms of service and mark your action as harassment, then they will take action against YOUR account.

also mass reporting the same fic is impossible on ao3. if a fic has already been reported and you or someone else tries to report that same fic again, ao3 will tell you that the fic has already been reported and is under their review. therefore any new report does not go through.

ao3 will only remove a fic if it’s actually against their terms of service (if it mentions money/donation/commission, if the work section of it is not actually fanwork/original work, etc) but the site will NOT remove any fics for being dark and taboo, no matter how disgusting you think the fic is.

i like to imagine how people in the post-material-scarcity future would romanticise the current time period.

having a job gave people a sense of community and purpose lacking in our modern age where nobody is forcing you to get out of bed on threat of starvation. actually the average office worker in the early 21st century was so much wealthier than a UBI-having-modern if you forget to count paying rent and also make some very bad purchasing power conversions. if you look at contemporary records (sitcom where the main characters are only at work when it's plot relevant) it is obvious that employment was never really a major obstacle to having an active social life or pursuing your own passions.

ive said this before but my understanding of the "tumblr sexyman" is that the archetype originated via a website full of nerdy teenage girls taking their first steps into sexuality and looking for objects of desire in their zones of interest that felt "safe" to experiment with and landing on anyone resembling David Tennant. It has always been, to me, the fandom equivalent of the boy band dreamboats on the cover of Tiger Beat. It's in the name even. "Sexyman". A man who is sexy but not sexual. Someone you can stare at and sigh over and dream about but actual sex is still scary to imagine so hes just just standing there looking good in his waistcoat and slacks and whether he actually has genitals under there or not depends on how brave youre feeling at the moment

That's why it always felt strange to me to try and expand the term further than that cuz, for the most part tumblr users arent really teenagers anymore. we're mostly all adults now with presumably a better handle on our sexualitys and preferences. Senshi isnt a sexyman because you dont need a sexyman any more. He's just a guy you want to fuck.
