Since middle school, Derrick Evans also known as, DJ Chef D, has excelled in his passion for music from turntables to mix tapes to club entertainment. It started at home with his mother’s turntables and the gift of a mixer from a family relative. Derrick experimented with the tools he had and fell in love with Hip-Hop. Much time spent on his music over the years he has mastered his DJ skills through practice, failure, and patience, but his love for Hip-Hop lives today.

DJ Chef D’s passion was witnessed by a few of the elite DJ’s in the New England area; DJ Casey Matthews, and Mike “DJ Nyce” Mazes. One of the most influenced and inspirational DJ’s growing up was Jam Master Jay, whom made an impact in the Hip-Hop music industry that DJ Chef D looked up too. Falling in love with Hip-Hop music, DJ Chef D, grew up with gospel, folk, R&B, and Rock ‘n’ Roll music. All the various genres he grew up with, DJ Chef D focuses on Hip-Hop,
r & b, latin, pop, rock, and soul music.
