Founded in 2006 by a crew from Gothenburg, London and Marseille and with roots in the demo and crack scene subcultures of the 80s and 90s, Data Airline’s impressive and diverse artist roster includes some of the world’s most innovative and talented chip and micromusicians.
Data Airlines was set up with the aim of releasing quality electronic music that fused traditional elements of chiptune with other sounds and aesthetics. The label’s unique approach in terms of design and production looks to expand the boundaries of the historically insular chipmusic scene and help the music reach wider audiences, whilst maintaining the core elements and ethos of the chipmusic movement. By challenging traditional views of technological obseletion and keeping a very DIY and underground approach to their work, Data Airlines’ profile and catalogue continues to grow, as does their reputation for consistent quality.
