Hey everyone. I just wanted to let you all know that I have a new network that I would like to get populated. I would like help if at all possible. The network name is irc.sacredforest.com The main channel room is #chathaven. If any of you would like to stop by feel free! We will be getting shoutcast and will need dj's if there is ayone intrested.
Some time ago (not only) one of the networks had been influenced with mass attack of IRC worms. It's just a mIRC script plus modified mIRC executable that makes this mIRC with this script to start automatically when the system is started. When it starts, the script connects to different IRC servers and joins different visible channels, sends messages to participants with some URL. When clicking onto such URL, a browser is called to open it and in such way the worm affects the user's PC. Different vulnerabilities concerning Active-X make it possible to start the worm without the user's permission... And the script included is a simple HTTP server that makes its plain and dirty job - is to affect other PC's, sending the copy of modified mIRC and scripts... So, this is an example of how good can be IRC client's scripting language - mIRC is a powerful IRC client! But M$ Windows and its famous Internet Explorer are not too good. I hate Windoze... Now I'm using Linux Slackware and X-Chat, but still I do track out all the releases of mIRC for these windoze-likers among my friends :-)
I barely know enough to get by. I'm not a huge fan of technology and I can't be bothered to, which is why I am stuck with my problem and came to the community. Sorry. It's trying and selfish.
i've encountered a serious problem. because of an aol user who was causing havoc on #shoujomagic channel, i was also banned because they have banned all aol users. i don't believe this is an ethical solution and would like some help. if anyone is familiar with this channel, please talk to them about this because this isn't fair when i myself have abided by all of the rules and have never caused any problems. even if they are ingrates
I've tried to ask this on the channel, but no one there gave me an answer, so I'll put it here. When I try using certain triggers, there's a message that pops up and says:
i'm using an alternative serving method. please type '/dccserver +sc on 59' to connect ..
So, I copy and paste "/dccserver +sc on 59" (without the quotations, of course), and it says "* DCC Server is on (59,Send,Chat,Fserve)" but when I try the triggers again, the same message pops up. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it something else?
Yeah, I love mIRC. I've been using it for about a year or so and have gotten pretty decent with scripts. Haven't been on much lately, but I'll hang around here until I get my other computer up and running again :p
