Original flash fiction
This community is dedicated to brief, original fiction. Challenges will be posted several times a year to which members may respond. Constructive criticism is encouraged. The emphasis will be on genre writing -- fantasy, science fiction, bizarro, horror, and romance. Literary points of view are welcomed, but this community is intended to be a site where genre writing is WELCOMED and ENCOURAGED.
Community Guidelines:
mind_spark encourages original writing among its members by posting specific challenges. Only members may post stories but our writers appreciate constructive reviews. We specifically seek to promote genre writing, including fantasy, science fiction, horror, romance, and bizarro, though work of any type is welcome here.
Members may post original flash fiction in response to challenges or independent of them. If a post is in response to a challenge, please include that information in the header of your post, e.g., Challenge Response: Six-word story, Horror. (Specific guidelines for posting for each challenge will be given.) If a post is not in response to a challenge, your post’s header should contain the title of your piece (“Untitled” may suffice as well).
Because all posts will be relatively short in length and viewing of this community is limited to those 18 years of age or older, LJ cuts need not be used for posts unless the work is disturbing or the content blatantly sexual in nature. The author should use her or his best discretion in making this decision; if needed, the moderator may recommend using a cut.
The moderator reserves the right to delete irrelevant posts.
