Part 1 - Ok, this is going to be a double dose today because there is one thing I forgot to post and one thing I simply must post. First up is 'Dirty Laundry' in with Thomas Jane makes his own 'Punisher' fan film because he can. I personally though 'Punisher: War Zone' was far more fun than the first film, but Jane clearly loves the character and this is pretty cool.
Trailer Friday: Part 2 - And next up is the frankly astonishing trailer for 'Cloud Atlas'. Directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) and The Wachowski Brothers (don't let that put you off). I'm not familiar with the book, but I'm getting a slight feel of '2046' and 'The Fountain' from it - Which is a good thing. The trailer is nearly 6min of epic and should absolutely demand your attention.
Will you ever feel this fainting Like i did as you said no Like a free fall without a parachute I fear this kind of attitude
Even you’ve tried to make me understand That you’re sorry - let me know That i will have to comprehend My crush on you will make me feel blue
Why…why -you did not let me in? Why…why - you did not let me….
Theres nothing i can do to change your mind Theres nothing more servile to show you How i feel inside Even nothing i can say to make you smile at me I’m so misrable in love - this is an emergency
For how long my thoughts repeating? Beyond the means they recommend To me to play this a thousand times Imagening an happy end
Can’t grab the impact of this lesson 18 nights a blessing or a curse? For me so close to all my dreams My feelings turning in reverse
Why…why -you did not let me in? Why…why - you did not let me….
Theres nothing i can do to change your mind Theres nothing more servile to show you How i feel inside Even nothing i can say to make you smile at me I’m so misrable in love - this is an emergency
David Cronenberg has made some excellent moves of late, but if you miss the more head fuck crazy days of his eariler work then 'Cosmopolis' might be just the ticket. Trailer is slight NSFW, but hits all the right notes for me. CHUD has a story synopsis here: http://www.chud.com/87582/pattinso…
Everyone goes out and takes pictures when it snows, so I thought I'd do the same. Nothing special really, just a 30min walk around. Turns out it's still quite tricky to hand hold an all metal 90mm macro at f4 - 1/250th with a half centimeter focal depth. I think maybe there is some post-processing potential.
It's back! Attempting to show you interesting and slightly different films every week. Today is 'John Dies at the End' from Don Coscarelli of Bubba Ho-Tep and Phantasm fame. Looks suitably odd with maybe a touch of old Cronenberg.
From the director of 'Slither' comes the middle age equivalent to Kick Ass (this film actually finished filming first). Looking funny, violent and with Kevin Bacon.
From the director of 'The Good, the Bad, the Weird' comes as distinctly more grown up film in the form of 'I Saw The Devil'. Seems like an exciting and beautifully shot revenge flick that has been getting a lot of high praise from critics. Hopefully a UK release is soon.
With elements of 'ID4', 'District 9' and even 'Cloverfeild', 'Battle: Lost Angeles' looks like bloody good fun. Esentially the events of an alien invasion film as seen through the eyes of a military squad. It's out in a month.
