A pinned post for Mikke

I’m Mikkeneko, Mikke for short. I’m a writer, American, asexual, she/her, in my mid-30s. I post primarily fandom stuff, flowers, and anything else I find interesting or cute or funny

My AO3 can be found here and contains fic written for Dragon Age, MCU, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Critical RoleThe Witcher, The Untamed, and the latest fandom of interest is The Scum Villain’s Self Saving System.  My writing tag on Tumblr is ‘mikke fics,’ there is some overlap with my AO3 but not total duplication, so you can peruse that tag if you want.

I am also on bluesky and dreamwidth.

I’d like to make my blog a nice place for people to visit, but at the end of the day this is my space and I will reblog (or not reblog) to satisfy myself over any other consideration. I will occasionally signal boost real-world or political posts I find relevant, but I keep that a fairly low ratio of my content.

Triggers I tag for:

  • blood cw
  • bones cw
  • high heights (for heights)
  • clusters cw (for trypophobia posts)
  • shirtless cw (for all partial-nudity content, not just bare chests)
  • loud noises cw
  • flashing cw (for any jerky light/motion content)

(Not a trigger per se, but any post that’s longer than two screens gets the long post tag.)

If something comes up that I don’t reblog frequently enough to have a reliable tag for it, I will try to tag it “[distressing content] cw” but that may be a bit hit or miss. If there is another category of content that turns up frequently enough to be upsetting and you’d like a tag for it, let me know. I may or may not be able to fill your request but I can at least consider it!

Fun things to do in my blog, I guess?:

That's how you show real solidarity!

"After they overheard that ICE was at the courthouse to arrest someone, they improperly accessed court databases to determine who was not born in the United States," a DOJ detention filing says. "They then snuck every suspected illegal alien who was at the courthouse out a back door, where ICE, who was waiting in the parking lot for their target to leave the building, could not see them."

Think about what you can do at your job or in your daily life to resist fascism when the opportunity presents itself!

Here is the link to contribute to their legal fund. They are facing multiple felony charges and I have no info on whether they have any community support at this time. If their actions are something you support, consider helping them out through the aftermath and investigation by the "justice" system

reverse transmigration AU where Bing-ge ends up trying to find the god that made his life like this and ends up crashing with Airplane angrily making him write better "alternative routes" for himself, but they're terrible because it's all Luo Binghe self-insert fiction when he has zero self-awareness and Airplane doesn't want to die but he's also dying because ARTISTIC INTEGRITY (or at least, you know he's not even getting PAID for breaking it this time) -- and Peerless Cucumber is getting basically edged with NEW LUO BINGHE stories that start out interesting and then devolve into nonsense and somehow starts being meaner than normal in comments--however that doesn't get noticed immediately by either of them because he's always mean and a lot of the comments are ANNOYED because there's no papapa and adventuring in the ways they expect (and Airplane would like to say that it's HARD TO WRITE a smut scene while the POV character is angrily looking at you with murder eyes--except no wait, maybe he is into that actually and so at least one of them is good).

luo binghe eventually makes an account to argue with everyone in the comments, but cannot defeat peerless cucumber who is seriously concerned that airplane might have had a mental break with these new stories and starts paying for private DMs to harass and check on him, while at the same time arguing with Bing-ge's handle (which is like SupremeEmperorACTuALLYYES because all the other emperor variants were taken), because clearly whoever is writing Bing-ge's forum posts completely misunderstands the character and is focusing on the wrong things

so airplane is having multiple existential crises (because some of these ideas are not terrible, please let him write them out, bro-son!) and bing-ge is angry because every time he goes back to his dimension none of the changes airplane made are sticking (or they are but it all goes wrong and then that means peerless cucumber is RIGHT and that cannot stand) and shen yuan is wondering how insane he'd have to be to hire a private detective merely to find airplane and make sure he wasn't actively dying

#SY: if you’re being held hostage and forced to write garbage against your will put a giraffe in the next chapter - via @confuzing

this might actually work lmao because LBG has no idea what a giraffe is so Airplane can describe the new beast without naming it and scoot under the radar wordy

I think it's interesting that we never see Kurogane and Fai's alternate selves or even a vague mention of them. Like practically every major character and even side character exists in another universe. But these two are given the CLAMP soul pair treatment despite being from different worlds entirely. Considering how big of a theme the alternate selves becomes, I'm really surprised that there is zero reference of that in regards to these two. Yes, I know that they are original characters while everyone else is a pre existing crossover variant. But it still messes with my head. Because if they are a soul pair (they are, this is CLAMP they are serious about this shit), then why not with their own world's version of each other? Is this ever explained? And what about the Fai variant in Nihon? What happened to Kurogane's variant in Celes? Did they even exist at all? Perhaps their own world's Fai and Kurogane exist as far apart in time as our Kurofai.

see now this is something that's kept me up at night. because i'm pretty sure TRC's kurogane and fai are not a soul pair. and, in a way, i think that's actually kind of powerful?

CLAMP are big on fate and destiny and, as you said, they have gone on record saying many of their characters are essentially soul bonded to each other. syaoran and sakura, touya and yukito, etc. in any universe if one appears the other won't be far behind, endlessly yet unknowingly drawn to their soul's counterpart.

but i actually think this is not the case for kurogane and fai. some have speculated before that the reason these two were so powerfully drawn together in the TRC-verse was that their own universe's counterpart had already died, and while i do think that's certainly a super interesting take, i think the idea of them not being soul bonded is actually more interesting?

because it would mean they were never actually meant to be together. no cosmic force pushed them toward one another, no preexisting bond bouyed those feelings. they were simply collateral damage of someone else's destiny. only there at the right time due to a twist of fate. an aberration. an accident. somebody mucking around with what was supposed to happen. but essentially it means that everything these two did regarding each other they did on purpose. deliberately.

in a way they created their own destiny, they bent fate to their will and said no, this one is mine. when kurogane put that sword to his own flesh he defied fate. this fai, our TRC fai, was a thrice cursed child; he was always meant to die. until kurogane said actually fuck that - what do we say to the god of death? not on my fucking watch. he changed his own destiny by force. a killing machine learns that the most powerful form of love is to protect? and uses that to take fate by the throat and tell it to fuck right off? fucking sublime. he chopped his own arm off and pulled the man he loved out of destiny's cage, thereby changing his own fate by choosing fai. deliberately and without hesitation.

and fai, in choosing life, in choosing love, in choosing kurogane, in choosing to let himself be loved, in choosing the life he made over his own towering guilt, self-loathing, and despair? he changed his own fate, too.

i don't think they were ever meant to be together. but they chose to be anyway. not because of fate, but despite it. and i think that's pretty fucking rad.

Forced at gunpoint my god

Like eight years ago I had some Luo Binghe thoughts and Mikke thought I should write them up for tumblr, which I didn’t do and then didn’t do some more, and then I wrote a very bad version and then I slunk away in online essay failure because I’d tried to make them clever and I ruined it for me. But they were pretty good Luo Binghe thoughts honestly so here’s the caps:

#VERY VERY GOOD THOUGHTS#SY!SQQ really never acknowledges the effect of the decisions he DID have agency in#and rakes himself over the coals for the ones he didn’t which is another interesting window on how he’s both placed himself in and outside#the narrative context for most of the book. the story arc rules everything (but he’s not really part of the story!) except he IS because#he’s the villain (but he isn’t that’s just his narrative ROLE)#sorry I just have a lot of thoughts about this man’s brain. who’s doing it like him (no one thank god) - via @noswordinourlake
