Good Loafward we made a lot of food. I feel like my insides are half turkey.

I been writing more about it on my other blog, but I've been filling up the corners of my life by working on a systematics-related application called Names on Nodes. It's been growing outward from the corners, though -- taking over almost all of my spare time. I feel like I'm constantly programming or sketching out diagrams.

The rest of my life needs some attention. So, from now until next Sunday, no work on Names on Nodes. I can think about it, but no programming. No sketching. No talking. Nothing external.

(Except this post.)

BREAKING NEWS: THE U.S. ELECTS A TALL, WHITE, PROTESTANT MALE OF BRITISH DESCENT AS PRESIDENT!!!!

DESPITE ROMAN CATHOLIC VEEP!

Haha, O.K., with that out of the way, it's impossible not to be moved by the election, even if the outcome was expected. So much is gained by the mere fact of who Obama is. I could almost feel the good will pouring back into this country after seven years of drought as I watched the events of last night. (And McCain's excellent concession speech certainly helped, despite certain elements in the crowd.)

That said, it's a gamble. These are strange times, and I think a gamble is needed, but we'll see if it pays off. He's an intelligent, honorable person, but he's young and has enormous expectations to live up to. The current tide of sentiment will help, but only so much.

I remain cautiously optimistic.

P.S. Prop 8. WTF? Amirite?

Hallowe'en Wedding in Vegas

My old coworker Casey got hitched to his longtime girlfriend Rachel yesterday. The ceremony was at the Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas on Hallowe'en (officiated by Elvis, of course). The theme: everyone had to dress up as animated characters. Susan and I decided to go as our favorite X-Men, Beast and Jubilee, as they appeared in the Saturday morning cartoon show.
