i haven't read either of these (i have one-sided beef with green yuri, and i don't care about food/cooking stories) but i have one single reason for why this is controversial to me: no way would straight women would ever care enough about 2 girls kissing to read about it, no matter how soft and easy the relationship is. that's too shocking for me xD
