everyone accepts that he means it literally. not in the way that ‘it wasn’t sirius’.
sirius never asks him because he’s secretly happy that remus isn’t with them anymore.
one day his curiosity gets the better of him. “c’mon moony, you’re always dating new people and then breaking up with them. what keeps happening?”
“they weren’t you,” remus replies simply.
