Heyy Guys

Heyy, it's Em, from pit.
Well, I can see it's been a long time since anyone's posted on this community, but I think a little revival is at hand. I just wanted to say that we deffinatly had a good season this year, and I think we all had a good time with Iggy this season too. I know I'm not outside with all of you marchers and whatnot, but from what I could tell and from what I've seen, you guys have worked your butts off to make this season great. Even though we weren't able to go to Indie this year, I think we pushed ourselves a lot over the 3 months we've been together. I think we may have even pushed the staff as well. :)
My point is, is that even through rough times and rough weather, we really stick together and we really enjoy being with each other. We all strive to be the best, and like Iggy said, we all have goals we want to make during the course of the season. We have this driving force inside ourselves, and even though we have a relatively small band size, we are able to compete with some of the best bands out there. We might have gotten 8th place at Ford Feild, but we were at least within at least 10 points of all the bands. Every single person in every single band that went to Ford Feild pushed themselves to make the best show that they could. And they did. And we did. We have worked just as hard as those other bands in Flight 1 to be the best we can, and we showed them that we may be small, but we're deffinatly mighty.
This may seem just like a re-cap of what Iggy said and what Mr. Schreiber said, but it is most deffinatly true. We have worked ourselves to be great, and we proved to ourselves, as well as our staff, that this greatness is possible. And I really hope that next year we can achieve, maybe even exceed that greatness we have achieved. Again, I might not always be outside marching with everyone, but I know I'm deffinatly proud of what I have accomplished and what the entire band has accomplished. I'm especially proud of the incoming freshman this year. You guys have taken the bar and raised it up another level or 8. You've really worked hard, and you deserve pie. Lots of pie. :D
And last thing I want to say. I think that this band, this Milford Highschool Marching Band, is one of the greatest things I have ever been a part of. You guys are my second family, and I love each and every one of you in it.

Milford Times letter

I wanted to make sure everyone could read this letter that Alissa Sharp's mommy wrote to the milford times.
Here it is:
I just finished reading my august 24th, 2006 milford times. I thought that the 10-page sports section was a very nice section. However, I think you missed two of the varsity teams.
These two teams (one form each high school-milford and lakeland) have been practicing every day. The kids on these teams are dedicated to their sport, committing themselves to many long hours every day. The students from the milford team (with whom I have personal knowledge) have been practicing every monday-friday for 7 (yes 7) hours each day since august 14th. My student comes home sore, blistered and tired. But, she is dedicated and wants to return to practice the next day. And she is lookiing forward to the week-long training camp and the end of the month.
Both these teams have a well-scheduled fall in front of them. Between the first week of school and the middle of november, there are no free saturdays. As the "coach" of the milford team says, "make no plans for the fall."
These teams have much competition in the state and they will perfom all over the state, with their season culminating in a national competition in november in indianapolis, Indiana.
There are die-hard sports fans that would tell you that marching band is not a sport-myself having formerly been among them. When my daughter began her perticipation in the Milford high school marching band, I thought that this was an extra curricular activity. In the years that have led to my senior's last year in the milford colorguard, I have learned that the band and all of its students are hardworking, dedicated and determined. (these are exactly the words that are used again and again in the sports section by the milford times writers)
Good luck to the milford marching band, the season is long and there are many spectators that enjoy your sport. I for one am very proud of all the effort that you put in.
The milford times and its writers missed two of the varsity level teams in your coverage of the "The road to the 2006 high school sports season". These athletes are working hard and putting in as many hours (if not more) as all the traditional athletes on the huron valley school teams. I would like to see more coverage of both of these teams in the future.

just wanted to share that.
