School for Young Seigneurs
Title: School for Young Seigneurs
Author: janus
Rating: M
Characters: Severus, Rabastan, Regulus, Abraxas, Antonin, Igor, Rodolphus, Bellatrix, Evan, Crabbe Sr., Goyle Sr.
Word Count: 3600
Warnings: systematic indoctrination in dark ideas
Challenge: deatheaterfest
Prompt: recruit
Summary: Severus and his friends attend a summer school to strengthen their convictions and to bond as friends.
Author's Notes: First I would like to give my effusive and heartfelt thanks to my beta
slytherinlaurel who does such thoughtful, thorough, enthusiastic and re-assuring work.
My prompt was 'recruit' and this is a school, as it were, for young Death Eater recruits. The title is a nod to Ignazio Silone, who wrote School for Dictators and later contributed to The God that Failed. He walked his own political tightrope. There are dark ideas in here, and I do not admit to subscribing to them personally. I always try to write the Death Eaters so that they are human beings with motivation and ideals, with love and sorrow. Everyone thinks he is a good person. Thus I try to make the darkness of each reasonable to each.
I am not entirely happy with this portrayal of Igor Karkaroff. I needed the character that he portrays here, but this character does not entirely fit him, and he is not to be taken as 'my canon' Karkaroff. I must write more to rectify this.
