In 2268, Bill Hadley and Ignacio Sanchez decided to play backgammon one evening in a recreation room aboard the USS Enterprise, rather than table tennis or bowling. They invited Leonard McCoy to join them. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)
