memorialfoundation: (all is full of love)
god, i don't know how anyone looks at the internet anymore without getting exhausted immediately.

i'd just like to feel like i've got a lifespan or a future that has, like. odds even slightly in my favor that it'll last longer than "the next few months, i guess?"

and every day i wake up to a government-mandated noose cinching tighter, instead.

Ah, the fields are crying out—it's Jubilee
We sold ourselves for love but now we're free
I'm so sorry for that ghost I made you be
Only one of us was real and that was me

I heard the snake was baffled by his sin
He shed his scales to find the snake within
But born again is born without a skin
The poison enters into everything

And I wish there was a treaty we could sign
I do not care who takes this bloody hill
I'm angry and I'm tired all the time
I wish there was a treaty, I wish there was a treaty
Between your love and mine

further reading

canonical, but ultimately optional: Dossoles Holiday + So Long, Adele: Home Away from Home (in that order); Inudi Harek, Horakhet: Adventure That Cannot Wait for the Sun; The Great Chief Returns + Ideal City: Endless Carnival! (in that order)
noncanonical but good worldbuilding details worth picking over once you're in deep: Operations Originium Dust and Lucent Arrowhead (a crossover with Rainbow Six: Siege), A Flurry to the Flame (a crossover with Monster Hunter), Delicious in Terra (a crossover with Delicious in Dungeon), Somniloquium Serenum (a crossover with BanG Dream! Ave Mujica), Pilgrimage of Compassion (a crossover with Limbus Company, unique among all crossovers to date for occurring in a game other than Arknights itself, and entirely from a perspective that doesn't belong to a single one of Rhodes Island's own operators)

and you may pick at the rest (operator records, operator modules, vignette collections, side stories, &c) at your leisure, but that's not the remit of this endeavor, so go have fun with that yourselves already!

AND DON'T ASK ME WHAT I'M GOING TO DO ABOUT ENDFIELD. I DON'T HAVE A PRIESTESS' CLUE

... yes, i'm alive. sorry, arknights ate me. if you have any other friends into arknights you may have some glimmer of a sense of why.

what a goddamned story.

Revolution is not a mood
Revolution is not a vibe
A better world is not aesthetic
A better world is choosing sides
I have laid out all my cards
I have given out all my love
I have been here long enough to know
Revolution is slow and hard
Revolution is showing up

Revolution is not one blow
Revolution is not one night
Can't get there with a pop song
Can't get there with AI
And the truth alone's no cure
And the truth's no Molotov
Revolution is bit by bit
Revolution is showing up

THE PLAIN TRUTH==
we drifted through it, arguing.
every day a new war crime, every day a flower bloom.
we sat down together and wrote it in one room,
and then sat down in a different room, recording.
NO TITLE= what gestures make sense while tiny bodies fall? what context? what broken melody?
and then a tally and a date to mark a point on the line, the negative process, the growing pile.
the sun setting above beds of ash
while we sat together, arguing.
the old world order barely pretended to care.
this new century will be crueler still.
war is coming.
don’t give up.
pick a side.
hang on.
love.

did anyone ever teach you, growing up, that it didn't have to be this way?
memorialfoundation: (used to be one of the rotten ones)

this one actually is personally hitting hard, unfortunately, and that's what compels me to curate it here.

god, i fucking hated my father. still don't know if i can ever grow old enough i too might forget why. but i loved him, too. and it's not fair that i can't hold it against him, not either fact. because my father has alzheimer's, and i fear it's in my blood, too; and my father doesn't remember being my father anymore, to be the man i could hold it against him for being. i can't hate someone with the willfulness and mental faculties of a fucking child for what the adult with his face did to me; i can barely handle seeing the echoes of the person who nonetheless did so much kindness for me, growing up, in a face utterly empty of recognition of who i am. i fled that life because i couldn't bear to endure him anymore; i never wanted him back in my life. and now i never really will, and it's a bad joke, because i don't feel all that satisfied for it.

the episodes of adventure time confronting the realities of marceline's relationship to the ice king, the infantile dementia-riddled person she has to accept in her life because of and in spite of the fact that once upon a time, the man she loved as a father was the man who lived in that flesh, wore that face, and now he's never coming back, there's just this new, more fragile and pathetic, person left to be all she has left of him besides her memories, already hit me hard enough - now they're echoes of my life, reflected near-perfectly back at me, and the weight of their sympathy is nearly unbearable.

it's grievously hard to live with it, sometimes. i, too, wish i could put myself to sleep, and wake up when it's all over. you learn how to live with other people's deaths pretty quick, when you're in the splash zone of the body necropolitic; but, at least for me, i've never done well at living with other people's dying.

Everytime I swear the worst is over now
You just say one thing and I find a way to turn it around
I wanna be the one to love you not calling you out
Who’s the one, who do you write your songs about?

(i feel a need to stress that the song of the day is rarely autobigraphically applicable, it's just the song that grips my head by the heart and won't scrub out, that's all)

and now: personal dreamwidth account, attempt #3. wheeze.

maybe i won't discard this one. certainly that's the implicit threat/promise of the name, after all. not to leave this one behind, or grow forgetful of its presence.

we'll certainly see, won't we?
