Sooooo I finally finally watched Doctor Who season 10 (before the new season starts, and I am properly properly EXCITED!!!!! about that one). I adored Bill, I mean I had heard good things, but you never know, you know? She was excellent and I am sad that she wasn't able to stay on for the next season.
Peter really made me cry in the final episode (actually the Christmas special), his farewell was very moving and I really sort of fell in love with him during season 10. I liked season 8 and 9, but Missy somehow didn't make as an impression on me then, somehow? Here though I was absolutely riveted by any scene she was in and when John Simm turned up I went ALKHFLDAJHFGLADJHGKDJHFGKJH. He was my first master (that sounds hilarious out of context) and I really liked his performance back then. To have him AND Missy and them playing off each other so fabulously and FLIRTING and one thinly veiled (for children's ears probably, hopefully, undetectable) sexually charged moment. Damn. I really really loved Missy's storyline though I am very sad to see both Masters killed off... Nardole as well grew on me the longer the episodes went on and I am glad he got a good send-off too. Now on to Bill's send-off (and I'm not calling it an ending because YAY it was left sooooo open and I expect radioplays and novels and fanfic galore!)
And if you'd just like to see the art:
Fandom: Doctor Who
Title: I'll show you around
Rating: G
Characters: Bill Potts, Heather
Genre: femslash
Medium: Watercolour, watercolour pencils and a white gel pen (thank you Scrawlrbox that one is really really useful), masking fluid
Preview:

Art notes: I worked and reworked the star in Heather's eye, but still wasn't happy with it in the end. The format is postcard size so there's only so much detail work you can do. I used masking fluid for the stars and the white of Heather's eyes. I also did some WIP shots which I'll add later. I would have liked the space background to be darker but since I didn't want to use black and didn't want too many washes I just left it at this stage.
Bill's hair was the most fun to do! I probably went overboard a bit, originally I had planned not to define the curls at all and just have it all one shape made of three different colours running into eahc other. Maybe I'll do that next time. I went over the wet area with the pencils to soften the lines and the end result is not bad.
Somehow, with that red jumper, she really reminds me of Uhura, something about that red colour and the high neckline shouts Star Trek to me :-). Okay enough rambling, enjoy.
And back to WIPbang art pieces, oh the life of the fannish artist...I am so excited to finally tell you about the amazing fics soon!

Date: 2018-07-11 05:01 pm (UTC)Oh what an awesome portrait! If it helps, I LOVE her hair, I can almost feel its texture. I have similar (though less spectacular) hair and I think you did a great job there and on the entire thing!

Date: 2018-07-15 09:24 am (UTC)Also, glad to read that you liked season 10. Nardole really had a way of growing on you, didn't he? Very unexpected. I loved Bill from her first episode on and her dynamic with Twelve - who's been my Doctor since "Please, just see me." - was delightful. And agreed on your Missy/Master keysmash, ha. The strength of the acting on the show has been off the charts lately.

Date: 2018-07-15 01:55 pm (UTC)Yeah Nardole was really unexpected. I am rewatching all of 12‘s episodes and his early dynamic with Clara is so different (of course also because Clara was used to 11). I am looking forward to seeing his arc develop wihtout the season breaks.
