Hey everyone, the latest episode of Supergirl wasn't a big highlight for me (also my brain is still strung out on Star Trek Discovery), but one sentence from the lovely Winn Schott inspired this art: "What's that you ask? Has Winslow Schott, your favourite human, finally cracked the case and maybe come up with a hot lead?"
Title: Favourite Human
Rating: PG
Characters: Winn Schott, Kara Danvers, Mon-El
Pairing: gen or OT3 depending on your view :-)
Medium: watercolours and watercolour pencils, white drawing ink, white gouache
Preview:
Art Notes: I used new watercolour paper for this (I got a new postcard sized pad from Clairefontaine) and I found that it doesn't hold the moisture as well as my previous one. I watched a couple of basic watercolour tutorials beforehand because I really want to feel more confident in this medium. One of them was even called 5 mistakes and I right on proceeded to do them *g*: overworking (making a pencil sketch and erasing a lot thus weakening the paper), not waiting long enough between washes (especially apparent in Kara's skin colours) and I forget what the third one was. The paper really feels so different working on it, it'll be a big adjustment.
I watched a video on skin colours and tried to be more bold (you'll notice the purple in Mon-El's) and try to create more variation. It's a first attempt, I'll have to practise a lot more. One thing I have become very fond of is mixing blue and siena or brown to create different shades of black and grey tones for all kinds of shadows or dark areas (see Mon El's hair and jacket).

Same here! I hardly ever use black paint any more. Mixing dark blue and brown always gives a better result IMO.
