In addition to my Visual Overview of the pieces I did last year I thought it would be fun to try
goss's meme. All images are previews only.
Favourite artwork this year (of my own): Heat for drawesome word prompt challenge (G)

This was really hard to decide. I am very happy with a lot of the pieces I did, but something about drawing a happy recovering Bucky basking in the sunshine still makes me smile.
My best artwork this year: In the Wild (G)

Again this was really hard to decide. In the end I chose to go with this one because I had been pushing myself with crosshatching and other shading techniques in Inktober and finally realized a sketch that had been lying around a couple of years. This is one of the few pieces where I really wouldn't change anything if I had to do it again.
Most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Supergirl Advent Challenge Day 12 - Happy holidays (G)

I have no idea if this is underappreciated but since I didn't post it separately in my journal (only in the comm
supergirl_tv), not many have probably seen it at all? It's the Supergirl gang on the couch.
Most fun artwork: Not again Dr. Isley!(G)

This was fun because it was pretty quick, I got to try out a new pen and I loved putting little details into the picture. Oh yes, and it's a very unlikely crossover piece of DCU and Due South. :-)
Sexiest artwork: Juliette and her boys (PG-13)

Hmm, probably this one for the Grimm fandom. I hardly ever draw stuff that's rated more than PG-13, so there wasn't a lot of competition for this category *g*. This is my OT3 for Grimm fandom, with dominant Juliette with her two subs Nick and Sean.
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" artwork: I have no idea what to put here.
Artwork that shifted my own perception of the character: Shelter (G)

I thought long and hard about this category and then it hit me - for this piece, since it was for an AU set before the destruction of Krypton, I had to think hard about alternate versions of the characters. It is a fic illustration for the DCU_bang and so much of the work was done for me by
dirty_diana. But still body language etc. had to be considered as well as their outfits (which weren't described in detail).
Hardest Artwork to do: Aftermath (PG)

Definitely my second Marvelbang piece. It was mainly background work and I hardly ever draw cityscapes. And then in watercolour even - a medium I'm still experimenting with. I got so frustrated having to do all those buildings and shadows (although I love some detailwork I seldom do that much of it in one piece!).
Biggest disappointment: Tauriel portrait

The problem here was that I had done a couple successful pieces with the same media (gold ink on black cardboard) but had to find out that it really really didn't work for portraits as I had hoped. I consider it a learning experience.
Biggest surprise: Drawesome squiggle challenge - Galaxy (G)

The galaxy I did in pastels. I wasn't sure if it would work the way I planned but it turned out unexpectedly well! Especially viewed from a distance the effect is exactly as I had envisioned it.
Most telling artwork: Bucky-Steve cuddling (PG)

I don't know if that's very telling; I don't think I've made a secret of the fact that I love drawing pretty naked men, body hair, cuddling or protectiveness.
So wow, this took way longer than expected but was also a fun exercise in thinking again about pieces I had almost forgotten (like the Grimm art).
