I just couldn't wait for the new prompt on

drawesome and made a sketch. I finally finished Supergirl season 2 today and this screenshot really stood out for me. I really love Alex&Maggie and their relationship on the show. Since I promised myself to draw more female characters this year (and have been seduced away from that goal by Bucky and Steve) this fit nicely.

Alex was a lot harder to draw than I expected due to the head tilt and multiple light sources reflecting on her nose (urgh) but Maggie went surprisingly well.

Aww! Love these two together. ^___^ You're right, Maggie came out really well. You definitely captured her features, especially her mouth and nose. Nicely done!

Noses are always a challenge, aren't they, especially at that upturned angle for Alex. I remember having to erase and re-draw parts of Alex's face over and over in this one sketch I did a while back. You'd think hers would be the easier of the two... :b

Thanks for your comment! The thing is - I have zero theoretical knowledge of proper lighting and shading and wing it most of the time. I try to copy what I see but I don't understand it, you know? And in using reference shots like this one it really doesn't work LOL. That's why I adore drawing profiles - so much easier. :-) But I tried to push myself with this one.

Oh great, now I'm going to hunt for your Alex art!
