This one is soooooo hard! There have been so many fanworks which are dear to my heart I cannot possibly choose three, five or even ten! Even just writing the first that come to mind seems unfair. *sigh*

Smallville

Lanning Identical Series 286,442 WIP

This is THE definitive Clark/Lex saga for me. The premise is fantastic, the characterisation of Lex and Clark and Martha and John to die for and generally THIS FIC GIVES ME ALL THE FEELS every time I re-read it (which I have about 20 times). Sadly, the latest chapter dates from 2013. I have commented several times on AO3 once the fic was available there, I even wrote emails to the author for a couple of years, encouraging them to continue. Regardless of whether it will be finished one day, this fanwork will be close to my heart always.

DC Superbat

I could rec ANY fic by mithen here, but I am going to go with 36 Views of Mount Fuji since it was one of the first really long series in that fandom I read and I loved the slowly getting to know each other of Bruce and Clark, as well as the inclusion of Dick! As someone who'd love to travel to Japan the descriptions were especially interesting as well.

I could just as easily go for The Gardens of Wayne Manor, From this day forward, The House of the Earth... I could go on. I just love these characters and I love the way mithen writes them, so all those stories and many others are dear to my heart since these characters are.

Jeeves and Wooster

There are SO many great fanworks in this fandom. I was an avid lurker in indeedsir for YEARS - marvelling at the brilliance of those fans. One of the fics sticks with me till today:

Author's summary: A very bad thing happens. And then we must go on. (The one where Jeeves is shot by a robber and very nearly killed.)

Because the character of J'onn (an alien) in a pairing makes for some fascinating writing of love, intimacy and friendship. There are other good fics out there but in this one he's paired with Bruce (and see above, ergo close to my heart):

I also love that this series is a collaborative effort, chicago as the main writer, but many other contributors, as well.
