mekareSoooo, I have been diving back into Sentinel fandom a bit recently and wanted to quickly rec a beautiful fic which encapsulates everything I love about the concept and the characters.
Basically, I am a sucker for sensual descriptions and the sentinel concept is all about senses. In the TV series, they used to try to convey the enhanced senses with a special kind of music, sound effect (a whooshing sound) and simultaneous zoom of the camera on the sense organ that was affected (ears and eyes usually). Sentinel fiction brings that out even more beautifully. You get tons of brilliant desriptions of sound, sight, but more usually (since a lot of it is romance/pwp between the two main characters) TOUCH and TASTE (not to forget SMELL - those lovely pheromones yum). And this particular fic delivers it in spades.
The other thing I love is proper character development and evolvement. The series already delivered that beautifully, we start out with a repressed, macho 'I don't need anyone' cop (Jim) and an enthusiastic, open, funny academic (Blair). A LOT of the fic focuses on how they change throughout their friendship (often leading to a romantic relationship). So this fic also deals with that.
And if you aren't sold on it already, it describes the only convincing orgasm-by-strawberry-scene I know of. *g*
