Grandma Pearl died today.

She wasn't my grandmother, she was my Uncle Bill's mother, but I saw her at a lot of family parties and she was one of the coolest old ladies ever.

She'll be missed.

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Well, in light of LJ's recent fuckery and their continued attempts to ruin the place...

I don't think I'm leaving, not completely. There's too many communities here that aren't there that I'd miss, but I've noticed in general that I really don't write here as much as I used to. some of that's the current situation, aka I have no fucking free time, recovering from the fucking plague while working two jobs and trying to cram in whatever sleep I can get whenever. Do think I'm definitely done being a paying member.

Just...wow. Way to ruin your own fucking site LJ.

Suppose I should get my ass ready for work. Last night at the toy store, thank fucking goodness.

Writer's Block: B.Y.O.B. Holidays

Which December holidays do you celebrate, and why? One random answer will win a $50 Amazon gift card. [Details here]

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and occasionally New Year's Eve.

Mostly celebrate Christmas because my family did and I enjoy the traditions, plus seeing the lit tree in my living room makes me smile and remember a lot of the good times. We seemed to always make it a point of putting aside the bad times at Christmas and just relaxing and enjoying ourselves for a few days. Real life could wait.
Wisconsin: Solidarity

Unconfirmed, but it's now flying around Twitter that we've collected about half the signatures needed to toss my state's governor out on his ass.

It's been two weeks. We have until the tenth of January.

Holy. Shit.

I think I may need to just mail in my petitions I've got with their one signature (my husband's). This state's got it covered. They're gonna have the petitions submitted before Christmas if this keeps up.

Nice going Wisconsin!

We did get a LOT of practice earlier this year during the Senate recalls but there is a bit of a major difference here. Madison and Milwaukee get to sign and vote on this one too. There's at least 400,000(if not more)of us right there with a bit of a grudge.

I'm home for a bit of a break before I go and work a three hour shift(WHY?!) at Michael's later this morning. Then I'm off until Tuesday. And my feet might get a chance to recover. I am so tempted to buy a foot bath, but after tomorrow, I don't think I'm really going to need it. I can be on my feet for 8 hours at a time and not be too gone-my shoes aren't great, but they're not horrible either. It's the 15 hours per day, and more than one day in a row, that are doing me in.
