Name: Ruby, but most everyone online calls me Lyss now.

Location: Baltimore MD

Website (optional): None

Experience as a Ghost Hunter: None, other than reading and non-serious type jaunts with friends to "urban legend" type places.

Additional Information: Its kind of funny but I can remember wanting to be a paranormal investigator when I was 8 years old. I don't yearn for it so much now-a-days, but its still one of my greatest interests.

Scariest Ghost Experience: I used to say it was when I was 18. A few friends and I were driving (wasting time) through the Spring Grove Hospital Area. I don't know it all that well, and I wasn't driving. However, as stupid children do we were daring each other to get out of the car. We were stopped in front of this big building, and you could see a stairwell from where we were. I don't know if it was in use or abandoned. It doesn't really matter. In one moment, there was nothing there on that stair well, and in the next there was a figure, tall and man like, rushing down the steps at what I like to call "non human" speed. Or at least not that I know of. It was like its body wasn't jarred by its feet pounding the steps, it was just "gliding" at a furious speed. The other thing was, the way it was moving spoke of anger. We, also like children, and possibly several smart adults, ran like our lives depended on it. By the time we stopped we were at Dennys. ;)

Recently though my mother in law passed away. While she was living she dealt with some serious mental illness, and was not taking her meds. She called people at all hours, and banged on doors, and antagonized people. She also, in one of her darker moments killed a cat. I really don't want to get into all of that, but she had me so scared I was carrying a pocket knife to the car with me during the day. She hated me, and made no bones about it. Now she is dead, and we are moving into her house. >_< Yeah, so I'm already freaked out. Also, she used to have borders who roomed in the basement. ONE of which died a very bloody death...in the basement! Now, I never had any weird vibes there until after my mother in law died but still.

Stuff that happens in that house (and this is all since Feb 8th):

Light in the basement is on EVERY morning when I get there even though I turn it off before I leave.
Plant sprayer is open and next to back window, even though I always close it and put it back.
Junk drawer in kitchen was open last week. (could have been anything)
Radio was on when I got there two nights ago, along with THE GAS on the stove. Seriously. The stove was turned on to just before "lite" on the dial. No flame, just constantly releasing gas into the house.

As far as experience there goes though, I don't have too much. I was laying on the couch one night waiting for my husband to get done what he was doing upstairs so that we could leave, and I totally though I could see her standing there in the kitchen staring at me. Now, it WAS like out of the corner of my eye, but it wasn't a flash, and gone thing. It was a prolonged image. I was just too freaking frightened to turn my head.

Later that week I was coming out of the bathroom on the second floor and I could hear laughing coming from the kitchen. It took every inch of nerve in my body to go down the stairs. Obviously, there was nothing there...

Skeptic, Spiritual, or Scientific Method of Hunting: All.

What Do You Use To Investigate: My senses, a maglite, a digital recorder, a digital camera, notepad, pen, and sneakers. Also: I never go alone.

Haunting in Perryville MD?

Here's the thing: I don't believe in ghosts. But they keep freaking turning up!

When I was in Americorps *NCCC, we were stationed at Perry Point MD, right outside the town of Perryville on the Susquehanna River. My house was okay. The house next to me, where my friend Andrea lived, was EVIL. Okay? EVIL.

The first night she moves in, Andrea told me she's laying in bed waiting to fall asleep and she hears this screaming -- like a little girl screaming. The sound runs up the stairs, into her bedroom, past her bed, back down the stairs and out the front door.

The one time she convinced me to sleep over, her roommate was gone so I slept in the top bunk and she was on the bottom. As I'm laying there, this incredible sound -- like a train bearing down on me -- and then the bed starts shaking. I was so freaked out that when it ended, I called out "Andrea!" and woke her up. She didn't hear anything. I said, "I'm scared! can I sleep with you tonight?" and she sleepily let me climb in bed next to her. I was terrified, completely terrified.

Andrea always said it felt like someone was watching her when she was in the shower or whatever. The few times I went into her house alone, say to drop off something I had borrowed, I felt like something was following me, watching me, as I moved from room to room. I didn't like going into her kitchen because the basement stairs were in her kitchen, leading down into this black hole.
