Dearest Keith & Rick Hunter

Before the age of 8 I began my life-long search of my Japanese boyfriend.  It all started with an anime called "Voltron."  It's about Princess Alora and her 4 Knights.  And the blossoming romance between Keith and Alora.

I used to think that somewhere in the stars was my personal planet where I also have a "Voltron" force.  However, because Tara Jean was in my care, I told her, you are actually the Princess.  And I used to command either the green or yellow lion.

There were four lions that made Voltron — green (Pidge), yellow (Lunk), blue (Keith), pink (Alora).  And Keith always said, "AND I'LL FORM THE SWORD!".

As I got older they started showing me "Robotech."  And that's when i started to have dreams in Anime and I told myself that one day MY Rick Hunter will come on his Macross as the Admiral and dock his ship on "Earth."

I attempted to study Japanese for about a year to year and a half, but I did not do well.  I had hoped Keith or Rick from Japan would be around.  But alas, no.

I've watched many anime and I love Sushi and Sashimi.  My baby cousin Ivannah studied Japanese for four years in High School in Mindanao.  She graduates Valedictorian of her class.  Her Japanese is GOOD.

I was concerned about being associated with Michael because he's affiliated with drugs and is felon.  I was concerned because Japan will not issue a visa to felons or drug users and smugglers.  But I know it's not an issue for me anymore.

Thank Goodness.

I'm a mix of Min-mei and Lisa Hayes.  Dual.

Dearest Aunt

Auntie, I'm sure you've already heard of how they treat our brother, Keanu.  They seek to ridicule and mock us, Aunt and call us derogatory names and obscene hand gestures.

This is not the first time they've threatened him, but it was the most despicable and blatant one.  These 'european' whites and their sycophants made a major error in judgement today.  And they are going to pay for it with their worthless lives.

As if the Orient is at their beck and call.  As if, Auntie.  They will rue this day.  I assure it.  I rarely get angry, Auntie.  And i rarely go on the offense.  But today, they overreached and went out of bounds.

They are fools, Auntie.

As if they can insult us like they do to many around the world.  Fools.

I can hear them snickering and mocking.  Their days are short.

Dearest Aunt

Aunt, should we not be offended that they assume erroneous ideas of 'whiteness'.  Moreover that they perpetuate lies and myths to ridicule and demean us.

A lie does not become a truth, regardless if it's accepted by the majority.

How these 'european whites' ingratiate themselves to various cultures and try to turn friend into foe among them.  They start so much futile trouble among nations.  And they have the audacity to use the 'banner' of Christendom to validate their damning actions.

Telling me to mind my own business.  What are you doing in OUR business.  Who asked you.

Then again, they are fools, Aunt.

Dearest Great*-Grand Aunt

The Swedish connection isn't necessarily Alex, Grand Aunt.  Mr. Keanu Reeves is a regular on a sitcom called "My Swedish D-"  He plays the sax on it constantly.

Also my first real residence is on Stockholm Street in Ridgewood, Queens, Grand Aunt.

I will further clarify that I am Filipina in the first post of this journal.

I don't know why they misconstrue it unless I am unclear online.

Greetings Great*-Grand Aunt.

Dearest Great*-Grand Aunt

I would be remiss to not talk to my Great*-Grand Aunt from Japan.

I studied Japanese for over a year and I truly enjoyed it.

In the Philippines, we too also have a Warrior Tribe known as the Tumuag in Visayas.  And we have a royalty tribe as well.  And then clerics/shamans.  We have our own ancient alphabet/script and clothing.  Historians in general concur that the style during those times is more reminiscent of India than other East Asian countries.  However they do see similar ideas... well at least conceptually.

And then throughout the Ages the Philippines have been influenced strongly by China and India and then Europe.  To a lesser extent... Japan.  And today we see a strong connection to Korea as well as the rest of the ASEAN countries (Southeast Asia).

I would like the Philippines to take more courteous care in their art of bowing.  I don't think they will always use chopsticks of some sort, but in general they eat more like Indians from India.  Oh and they were also influenced by the Middle East.

Daifuku Mochi

Never has a Japanese dessert been so easy to recreate at home! You need 5 ingredients and at least 3 should already be in your kitchen – sugar, water and cornstarch (or potato/tapioca starch) for coating. The next two ingredients are what will make or break this recipe – glutinous rice flour (aka sticky rice flour) and red bean paste (known as anko in Japanese).

  • Glutinous Rice Flour – Traditionally, if you can find Japanese sweet rice flour known as Shiratamako or Mochiko, this would be best. However, the easiest substitute is regular glutinous rice flour. We’ve found it at our local and Asian supermarkets as well as online. Look out for the see-through bag with the green writing – not the red writing (which is regular rice flour and not sticky!).
  • Red Bean Paste – We use homemade coarse red bean paste (also known as anko) from boiling and mashing azuki beans with sugar, but you can use the fine bean paste as well, it’s completely up to your taste. Store bought is fine – you’ll find it at your local Asian supermarket. In a pinch, you could make a filling with sweetened kidney beans, like in Vietnamese 3 Colour Bean Dessert. Or ditch the beans, and make up your own filling!
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the 1 heaped cup of glutinous rice flour, 4 tbsp of sugar and 1/2 cup of water until combined.
  2. Loosely cover with cling wrap and microwave for 1 minute. With the spoon, give it a quick mix, re-cover and pop back in for another minute.
