I’m Gerald J. Mast, a Professor of Communication at Bluffton University and a member of First Mennonite Church in Bluffton, Ohio. In this blog, I offer reflections inspired by my reading of early Anabaptist sources and of the Bible. Such reflections will range from discussions about the meaning of texts found in the Bible to examinations of discoveries about church history to explorations of faithful responses to contemporary challenges, including those posed by social theory and theology. As a rhetorician shaped by the reconciling gospel of Jesus Christ, I seek to exhibit practices of persuasion that make for peace. For more information about my research and writing projects, see my home page.
