far, far I fly

sakura 2013

On Saturday, I went to Fairmount Park early for cherry blossom photos because I liked the experience so much last year! There were a few other photographers roaming around the park and some people setting up booths for sakura matsuri the next day, but still a lot of privacy and quiet.

I leave for Otakon tomorrow morning! Otakon is the convention I've attended the most often over the years, but the thought of selling in the Artist Alley there for the first time is a bit daunting. I hope everything goes well! I made a few new Moss Märchen pieces, including some lace collars:

I bought a few things last weekend at the local antique stores (I could spend all day poking around these places)...

The pen and ink drawing of the young girl is my new favorite thing. Isn't her gaze haunting? The more I look at it, the more I think her direct stare is imbued with spirit and challenge ♥ My walls are completely bare, but this is one piece I'm willing to put on display. Watching me while I sleep yayyy

Moving to the left, there's some old miniature cutlery (probably part of a child's play kitchen), which I plan to use for more Moss Märchen accessories.

Next, I found a beautiful vintage edition of Jane Eyre! I was just GONE when I recognized the cover, which I had seen in a movie years ago and never forgotten. Traversing the cover is a sad line of Lowell School girls with modestly lowered eyes, but one girl looks up and into the distance-- almost gazing over your shoulder as you're holding the book-- and that girl is definitely Jane.

I also found some little religious icon pendants, a saucer + teacup display that reminded me of antlers (going to use it as another business card display), a stein, a blue saucer, a golden spoon, some little sewing scissors, and a miniature bottle. I wanted all the things, guys, but I seriously held back because I'm trying to keep from cluttering up my place again. ;o;

For my part, Animenext might as well have been called Fashioncon since my main incentives to go were the h.Naoto GRAMM fashion show and the chance to meet Z8 ♥ I wore GRAMM all weekend as a tribute, so packing my suitcases was relatively easy. Lolita fashion is great, but not having to pack petticoats made a big difference!

Earlier in June, I experienced my artist alley debut at Animenext selling pieces from my fledgling brand, Moss Märchen. Whether or not anime conventions are the best venue for my accessories remains to be seen, but I had a good time overall! Here are a few photos of the booth, my crafts, and a couple of customers:

I'm the hunter

I'm going to make a few piecemeal posts about Animenext, starting with a few of my photos from the h.Naoto GRAMM fashion show on Saturday, June 9th. I can't describe it without getting all blubbery, so I'd better just let the photos speak for themselves ♥ (click the thumbnails to see the larger sizes in my flickr)

making my own road

This weekend I'm selling things in the artist alley for the first time at Animenext, so I've been going a little crazy trying to get everything ready in time! This is also the official launch of my accessories brand, Moss Märchen. Here's a little sample of my work, a ring that's part of a "Poison Apple" series I've been tinkering with lately:

The blog and webshop still aren't done, but at least I made a facebook page for it in the meantime:

"Like" the page for product updates and photos of new projects!
I hope everything goes well this weekend >n<;; If you happen to be at Animenext, come find me at booth #99 of the artist alley ♥
