☆ Character Information

Character Name: Ironeye
Character Age: Unknown (adult)
Character Canon: Elden Ring: Nightreign
Character Version: Canon
Character Canon Point: After defeating Heolstor

Character Summary Pitch: Ironeye is a career assassin who travels to the Lands Between on a contract to root out and retire a traitor to his organization. In so doing, he enters into service to the Roundtable Hold as a Nightfarer: a warrior who braves the endless supernatural Night in order to slay the beasts that embody its dark power. Increasingly deprived of his memories by exposure to the long Night, he nonetheless grimly clings to his dual purpose -- to save the Lands Between, and fulfill his contract.
Character Wiki History or Write-Up Link: Ironeye was a member of a mercenary outfit known as the Fellowship, which "travel[s] around the world, settling conflicts through clandestine acts". In particular, he was feared for his "split-second judgment" and knack for exploiting enemy weaknesses, as well as his ability to exert control over battles from a distance with his bow. A member in good standing, his interactions with his fellow assassins seem to have been businesslike but cordial.

At the instruction of his handler, Isolde, Ironeye traveled to the Limveld region to track down a traitor to the Fellowship, known as 'the Monster'. Upon his arrival, however, he was sidetracked and summoned to the magical Roundtable Hold to serve as a Nightfarer -- one who braves the supernatural Night (a magical natural disaster involving endless azure rain) to slay a being known as the Nightlord. Ironeye agreed, and thereupon began simultaneously tracking his quarry while also joining his fellow Nightfarers on expeditions into Limveld to slay the Nightlords one by one.

In battling the Nightlords, Ironeye worked tirelessly with his seven fellow Nightfarers in seamless cooperation – surprising, for a man used to operating alone. In fact, most of Ironeye’s abilities actually make him an incredible group cooperator: his Eagle Eye passive suggests that he spends a good deal of time looking out for useful gear for his friends, his Marking skill significantly boosts his teammates’ damage, and his Single Shot art is enormously useful for reviving fallen comrades or quickly creating a moment’s breathing room for the party. His tendency to hang back at range also earned him a spot looking out for his fellows; by all accounts, he served as a conscientious and invaluable source of support.

Eventually, Ironeye found the Monster, only to discover his quarry was an alternate version of himself from another world, as imparted to him by the Duchess of the Roundtable Hold. The Monster had succumbed to the allure of the Night and abandoned his duty, choosing instead to hunt his fellow Nightfarers; in so doing, he had turned traitor to both the Fellowship and the Hold. Despite having his target within his grasp, however, and stabbing the man with great dexterity, Ironeye found that the Monster simply would not die. With resignation, the Monster revealed that neither Ironeye nor the Monster could be killed by conventional means.

Ironeye was obliged to track down an artifact that could kill the Monster, at the man's own request. At the Duchess’s guidance, he and his fellow Nightfarers slew the Nightlord Fulghor, whose life lived in servitude to the divine had imbued his great spear with uncommon holy power. Ironeye returned with a fragment of this spear to confront his otherworldly counterpart, as agreed.

In return, the Monster revealed a truth that Ironeye had forgotten as a side effect of his continued exposure to the Night: Both men were part of Those Who Live in Death, a faction of undead afflicted by a curse that did not "allow them to rest" until the Nightlord was defeated. Through found correspondence, it is revealed that the Fellowship simply kills its own assassins after they have outlived their usefulness to the organization. Moreover, it is suggested that Isolde was murdered by the Fellowship for voicing a traitorous ambition: to extend the Night to ensure that Ironeye and his fellows may fight on endlessly, free from the influence of their masters.

After killing the Monster in compliance with his original orders, Ironeye resolves to slay the Nightlord Heolstor in accordance with his agreement with the Roundtable Hold. After doing so, however, he is confronted by an enigmatic, corpselike figure, seemingly connected to Heolstor. By killing this being, Ironeye can ensure that the Night will indeed continue for the foreseeable future, ravaging the land of Limveld but also fulfilling Isolde's dream. The question: What will he do...?

Character Skills: Generally speaking, Ironeye is a particularly skilled assassin that also has a ton of experience fighting all kinds and sizes of enemies. He is particularly noted for his excellent battle judgment and ability to capitalize on even fleeting opportunities to strike.
Character Powers (if applicable): Immortality: As a Nightfarer and one of Those Who Live in Death, Ironeye cannot be permanently killed by ordinary means. Normal wounds harm him, but will not kill him (think knifing a vampire in the abdomen). Destroying his body results in him reforming in a weakened state, usually nearby. He can still eat, bleed, breathe, sleep, be poisoned, frozen, etc., but his life can only be truly ended by use of certain tools. In-game, this is accomplished with a special McGuffin called the Edge of Order.

Quick Runner: Ironeye is capable of sprinting faster than a horse essentially without limit as long as he's not engaged in other intense activity, such as battle (in which case he can do it for maybe... 10 secondsish at a time before needing to recover).

DEX Enjoyer: Ironeye is proficient with most weapons of skill, and is less proficient with weapons requiring mainly strength. He can make use of magical catalysts like staves if he finds one, but he's not a magical specialist and cannot cast spells without one.

Nightfarer abilities:
- Immunity to fall damage.
- Revives. If an ally is near death, Ironeye can restore them to about half health by beating the everloving shit out of them. He can also be revived in turn. However, the process must be relatively uninterrupted and be completed quickly, before the person in question fully expires. If they're actually dead, no dice.
- Ability to interact with spectral... stuff?: Can summon and ride Spectral Hawk mounts if they happen to be nearby, can use Spiritspring updrafts (also if they're nearby) to leap great distances, can interact with weird magical Spirit Shelter tree goo to be transported into a little pocket dimension.

Personal abilities:
- Passive: Eagle Eye. Gives his team an increased chance of finding more valuable gear and weapons. Basically, he's got a great eye for finding useful stuff.
- Skill: Marking. This is a medium-range slicing dash skill that allows Ironeye to noclip through enemies. He wounds anything he cuts, creating a Mark debuff that makes them suffer 10% more damage from all attacks. If enough damage is dealt to a Marked target, the Mark explodes for some burst damage and staggers the enemy. Also works as an air dash. Takes a few seconds to recharge, two charges max. He is briefly invulnerable during the dash.
- Ultimate: Single Shot. Fires a supersonic arrow and releases a big ol' shockwave that deals damage in a large area and can also knock down most small or medium-sized enemies. The shockwave passes through and may damage nearby terrain. Grants up to a few seconds of invulnerability during the use of the ability.
Describe the power your character gained entering the game (if applicable):

Personal Items Inventory:
☄ - Flask of Crimson Tears. A healing potion with about 5 uses, refills after longer periods of rest.
☄ - Rivers of Blood. His favorite katana. Striking an enemy with its blade causes enemies to build up Bleed status, eventually leading them to hemorrhage a sudden burst of blood loss/damage. Its weapon skill, Corpse Piler, allows for shooting projectile blades of blood that have the same effect.
☄ - Ironeye's Bow with Storm Ruler. A bow that allows the user to charge and fire smaller sword energy slashes, or one big boy energy slash.
Personal Vehicle Inventory: (N/A if your character isn't bringing in a vehicle.)

Stand tall. The Night is far from over.

PITCH Ironeye is a career assassin who travels to the Lands Between on a contract to root out and retire a traitor to his organization. In so doing, he enters into service to the Roundtable Hold as a Nightfarer: a warrior who braves the endless supernatural Night in order to slay the beasts that embody its dark power. Torrential rains accompany the Night, eroding all it touches -- including Ironeye's memories, and that of his companions. The only thing they cannot forget, seemingly, is their mission to slay the Nightlord.

Methodical and businesslike at first glance, Ironeye's cool exterior serves as camouflage for a man with a longing for battle, a deep desire for freedom, and an iron will. Those few who slip past his guard may find a surprisingly supportive ally... or a wounded beast.

LOVESHIPS I enjoy cross-canon and writing relationships in general. It's all about the vibes and whether characters fit together for me! Canonwise, I find Ironeye with Wylder, Duchess, or Raider the most interesting.

I see Ironeye as either dominant or a switch if he takes a liking to someone. Open to M/M or M/F.
Casual dating/flirting ✔️
Mono ships ✔️
Poly ships ❌

As a warning, Ironeye is one of Those Who Live in Death. By all indications, he seems to work identically to a normal living person -- he breathes, bleeds, can be poisoned, feel pain, etc., but after coming into contact with the power of the Rune of Death, he is undead and can no longer be killed by conventional means.

FRIENDSHIPS What kind of positive and platonic CR you're looking for? List them here!
- Battle-tested comrade CR
- Covering for each other's weaknesses
- Comically different backgrounds, somehow immaculate vibes
- Someone he could mentor would be interesting, since I don't think he ever gets to interact with people in that way and it'd be a new experience
- Fellows in hardship and sorrow. Gimme that despaircore continuing to fight on even when all is lost

HATESHIPS Not looking for negative CR unless it's agreed on with a player beforehand.

Archery is my domain. Give me the means, and I will fell the thing.

RUMORS
- Rarely shows his face or takes off his armor
- Dresses like the most suspicious man alive
- Has a mysterious voice and says John Nightreign-ass things
- Eyes are insanely blue

aka he looks like extremely suspect, have fun theorycrafting

HAUNTS Ironeye loves high places, the seashore, and feeling the wind. He probably prefers natural environments to highly developed ones. If indoors, he'll find a nice wall or chair to be mysterious and brood in. Maintaining his weapons is a common pastime.

In Somnia, he lives at The Dakota.

Anything Else?
Elden Ring is a dark fantasy canon with a ton of violent and/or funny death, and Ironeye is also undead by definition. There's a lot of eldritch abomination type stuff, scary big animals like spiders, demons that induce MADNESS, etc. Comment if you would like to opt out of spoilers, monsters, whatever.

PLEASE NO INFO/GODMODING 😫. I'm generally okay with some light touching, like handholding or something, but please don't take it into manhandling territory or autopilot my character without asking.

P.S. Also see info page for prefs and a quick character summary.
