40-something gay man, happily partnered/ married/ blissfully enmeshed with no desire for autonomy. It's been a great 18 years so far. (!!) The joys in my life are my family, including my 2 year old G_d son, Tavi, and my 10 y/o niece Iris. I also have an amazing family on both my side and the husband's. I used to be very fat. Still too husky, but a fairly fit husky. I love exercise, and go to the YMCA at least 6 days per week. I am mostly vegan, and don't do much sugar or ETOH. I still have a long way to go, but I am happy with my progress, my outlook, and the new found belief that I can be in control of my body. If you don't like something, fucking fix it-- because the clock is ticking.
I work in psychiatric services, specifically with HIV+ & opiate dependent populations. It's good work, but I am planning a semi-retirement in the next 2 years. I'm tired, I've given what I have to give. It is my plan to be re-trained and come back for a short teaching career. Pop was a workaholic, and I don't swing that way.
The joys in my life are my partner, my Godson, my family who I never see (including my niece who I talk to on the phone each day as she comes home from school), and 2 psycho dogs. And of course, my love affair with the stairmaster. :)
On a more personal note: I am trying to open up to more friends, especially gay ones. G & I spent 16 years isolating from the community and forming our own private universe. With the current political climate, we see the folly of our ways. (Though, to be fair, we did what we needed to do for ourselves).
I love hearing from people. A warning, though: I have almost zero ability to edit myself. I have strong opinions. I have been through the wringer, and now that life is good-- I feel strongly about not being shut up.
