Okay, I hope you all don't mind, but I took the proverbial bull by the proverbial horns and went ahead and got things moving. So far today I have:

1) Created the artist community. However, I suck arse at layouts, so PLEASE go in and make it look good. I wasn't sure what layout you'd used for the other communities (is it original?), so I just went with whatever. It would probably be better if the columns were bigger, etc. Sorry about that.

2) Sent out invitations to the artist community for all mods and artists. At least one person has accepted already.

3) Created and posted a sign-up post for artists to choose their authors. Basically I just posted a summary and an except from each fic and asked them the artists to rank their choices 1 - 5. I also asked if they would be willing to do more than one fic (1 - 2 scenes) if necessary. I highly doubt we will need to do it (unless we end-up with nearly twice as many artists and decide to assign two to a fic), but I thought I'd cover my bases. I also gave them until 11:59PM on Sunday, August 1st to list their choices.  I hope that was okay. Theoretically, they should have more than a week, but we really need to get moving on this. And I think they'd rather have their assignments sooner rather than later. I figure that we can match them up on a matter of days and then send them a draft of their fic ASAP.

4) Sent emails to all the artists who signed-up telling them about the community and the choose-your-story post. I really wanted to make sure that they knew about this.

5) Sent reply emails to all the authors letting them know that the artists were choosing and requesting a artist-ready draft of their fic by the 2nd of August. I've talked to several authors who were not sure if they should be editing or beta-ing or what, so I figure people really needed to know. By "artist-ready" I simply mean that all scenes and visual clues should be as set as possible.

I hope I did not overstep my boundaries here, for I was honestly trying to help out. The one thing I DID NOT want to do was change the time line in any way because that would be WAY uncool. Other than the week for artists to choose, I did not even bring it up in any communication. (And I only figured that was okay because we already missed the deadline for artist assignments on the FAQ.) So, are we still on the same time line? Or do you want to alter it? I know that you have the overall plan in mind, so I'll go with whatever.  Personally, my only concern is that we are running into RS_Games posting time here, and that may mean that I cannot be a reliable poster. We start posting October 1st and all fics are due on Sept 24th. I'll still do my best, though.

Also, I was thinking that I could create the spreadsheet to match artists/authors.  I don't think that would be too hard. In fact, we can probably do it in a couple of hours after people make their choices.

Oh, and another upcoming "due date" might be for the artists (once they have their assignments) to tell us what scene/s they are illustrating. The only reason that would even be an issue is if we really do have two artists per fic. We probably wouldn't want them working on the same scene.
