darthneko had a brilliant idea for a little something called 
NaNoMangO, where essentially was NaNoWriMo for comic artists. It’s run twice a year and is jolly good fun for artists that take a look at the idea of writing 50,000 words in 30 days and say ‘HAHAHA NO!’ Trust me I was one of those people myself once! It was messy and tasted like sadness. But MangOs taste way better. For more information on NaNoMangO just follow the community link!NaNoMangO, which the essential gist of it is for certain participants in the Bi-Annual MangO can never seem to conquer that 30 Pages In 30 Days deadline! Granted if you’re a serious penciler/comiker/mangaka it CAN and IS done because that’s your job but sadly as far as I’m aware the reason you’re here I assume is you’re not a professional, might never be one, or you are working to eventually BE one. No problem! All skill levels and levels of interest are welcome here!- All skill levels, and all genres are welcome! From the casual artist that wants to learn how to fine-tune their storytelling and style to the serious comic artist that is looking for a future career in the industry! For those of you that feel intimidated on posting work, fear not! How do you expect to conquer your fear if you don’t? ^.- We do ask that you put some effort into it, however - the grove is a little slower paced, you're not scrambling for a page a day (unless you want to!) and you can take your time to clean things up a bit and make them pretty. Whatever your skill level, let it really shine and be proud of it!
- Original Material and Fan Comics are welcome! Taking a cue from our sister community NaNoMangO that if you have your own story? Awesome! If you have a doujinshi you want to do? No problem!
- Multiple Projects are welcome! Have short projects that will be done soon? No problem! Start a new one! Working on a long AND a short project? Have at it! ^.^ Make sure you mention all of your projects in your Grove App Form. OR you can just mention your later project in a new Grove App Form when you get to it. Don’t forget to post it in the proper thread!
- All Contributors PLEASE use the LJ Tag System with your project!! Actually this isn’t a request, this is an order. You don’t want your project getting lost in the shuffle and we want to make it easy for readers to find all of your work! Need a tag for yourself or your comic(s)? Go here to ask for one!
- Prep Work is A-Okay! We have a tag set up for it and if you want to post character design sheets and plot synopses with your latest project feel free! However please avoid ‘Sketch Of The Day’ type drawings. There are plenty of sketchblogs out there and Mango Grove isn’t one!
- No Offsite Linking or Advertising!! The point of Mango Grove is for all comics to be accessed in ONE central location. We do not tolerate text hyperlinks to other journals or banner ads to other websites that house your comic. Save a brotha a few mouse clicks y’know? That you have a website/journal/DA Account is well and good and you certainly ARE permitted to mention it in your information just don’t use it to lead folks away via Fake Cuts or Ads. Fake Cuts are The Devil. HOWEVER - if you're coming in with a work that's inprogress and you've already done X amount of pages on it, please DO feel free to link us to those previous pages before you start in on new ones! Context is nice.
- All Mature Reader Material MUST be Friends Locked! Yes, yes when I said all genres are welcome that means there’s going to be some stories where girls touch boys, or girls touch girls, or boys touch boys, or whatever else floats yer lil’ banana boat and sinks your rubber duckie! By Friends Locking these entries as well as posting a warning of the material under the cut of said post you, the artist, won’t make Mango Grove liable for being accused of corrupting minors! Be mindful of the youngin’s! And you youngin’s have some sense and practice some responsibility!
- Absolutely, Positively NO Slander of Creators and Promotions of Hate or Hate Crimes in your project!!! Simply put… Don’t be an asshat. Don’t be a psychotic jackass to other contributors. And absolutely no stories that promote hate of ethnic groups, religions, sexual orientation, social classes, yatta yatta, etc. Freedom of Speech within reason, people. I shouldn’t have to explain what I mean by this, but when in doubt I’m available to answer questions!
