The Longest Journey...
Jul. 10th, 2026 08:34 amThank Gawd for Reddit!
Locating and downloading that last Schlock paystub was easy enough, but then when I tried to upload it using NY unemployment's proprietary messaging system, there was no way to attach the damn thing. The "submit document" option the nice lady on the phone told me about was simply not there.
After an hour of gnashing my teeth and fighting the urge to throw back my head and how-ww-llll, I finally thought, I cannot be the only person in the world who's had to deal with this.
Reddit supplied the answer! The "submit document" option does not show up in the Chrome browser.
It showed up fine in Safari.
From the way their website and phone systems are designed, you'd almost think that New York State wants to discourage people from applying for unemployment!

Anyway, the enormity of moving is finally hitting me.
Moving to Ithaca will be a lot easier and more affordable than moving to Michigan, that's for sure. The Prius could handle it fine, it's in good shape, but the 774-mile journey is not something I can undertake alone with the two cats. Ichabod has volunteered to help if he can get the time off from work, but that's a big if.
Of course, I won't know if Michigan is viable until after I return from my trip.
The whole deal is feeling overwhelming right now. Though I suppose it won't when I begin breaking it down granularly into easily accomplishable steps.
