Was at the Dave Chapelle show at SF tonight and who comes on but Elon Musk!
A good 80% of the stadium boos. 18k people. and he withers. Like absolutely turns into a corncob.
“What should I say??” He says
Dave tries to salvage the situation but to no avail
I can’t believe he came on and did that. No value at all.
“And here is the worlds richest man” Dave introduced him.
Totally came off entitled. Dave gave him so many chances to speak but he just put his hands in his pockets
My only read is that he thought it would be a layup. Ppl feeling good after chapelle set. SF home turf.
But Dave is like a 99.99% percentile stage presence. Impossible to not look bad in that situation in comparison.
Obv easy to armchair play afterwards, but at least say something.
“Thanks. Now pay me $8” and mic drop would have gotten a laugh. He did mumble something about being in a simulation, but felt totally off vibe for the crowd.
I actually felt bad for him. I’m by no means an Elon fanboy, more a centrist. I wanted to shake him: for the love of god man, say something and pretend it’s a tweet!!

Dropped a new piece called "things are a little crazy rn"
Using GPT-3 to simulate scheduling hell between two friends who will never actually meet up. Runs forever and generates unique combos.

Today's a big day for Sudowrite. We're launching Story Engine, an AI tool for writing long-form stories.
Our awesome team worked with hundreds of novelists for months to build the ideal interface for writers and machines to collaborate on a narrative.
whew, gonna mute this thread. i am a tech optimist at heart and i do hope elon can make twitter better
i’ll leave you with 2 of my stories
my hope is that twttr becomes less about mob justice: vice.com/en/article/mby… and more weirdly intimate like this: firesidefiction.com/object-permane…
