Yuletide!

I was super-lucky and got TWO fabulous Breakfast Club stories this year:

Fandom: The Breakfast Club (1985), Brian/Bender
Summary:
“It’s eleven-thirty. My parents aren’t going to let me leave now. Maybe if I’d gone out earlier...”
“Your parents won’t know, because we’re gonna go out this window,” Bender explained patiently, shoving a thumb over his shoulder at the curtains fluttering in the breeze. “You live in the basement and you never sneak out of the house?”

“I sneak out,” Brian protested.

“Get a coat,” Bender said, flipping hair out of his eyes. “Come on.”

** AND **

Had to leave myself behind (1656 words) by healingmirth
Fandom: The Breakfast Club (1985), Brian/Bender
Summary:
Three days before John Bender's 18th birthday, he disappears from Shermer, almost as if he'd never been there. Brian wasn't ready for him to go. Brian's never ready to let him go.

And! Now that reveals are up, I can tell you all that I wrote:

21 Spa Street (7697 words) bylynnmonster
21 Jump Street, Schmidt/Jenko
Summary:
Schmidt and Jenko go undercover in a mega-spa, and it's not just like the last two times.

Yuletide Reveal!

Happy New Year, everybody!  I am excited to claim credit for the yuletide story I wrote this year:

Based on the Evidence for perfectlystill
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Amy Santiago POV -- sorta Amy/Rosa, with a little Amy/Jake UST thrown in
Summary:  Santiago and Diaz go undercover as a couple in a gay bar.
Amy and Rosa get to know one another a little better. Amy learns a few things. And Peralta may not be the only coworker she has a little UST with.
See the end notes for warnings, etc.

I had a ball writing it.

Insta-Rec! [Teen Wolf AU, Derek/Stiles, adult]

I had the pleasure of watching this puppy grow from a wee introductory scene to the incredibly satisfying 13,250-word button-mashing fic it grew up to be. And you should read it even if you don't read Teen Wolf because it is awesome.

Darling It Is No Joke

Teen Wolf, AU, Derek/Stiles, adult

The first thing Stiles thinks when he opens the door is that it’s not his birthday, but someone has sent him some kind of cop stripper.

Inspornational Advice

I've been dipping my toe in the vast waters of tumblr, just starting to investigate what it's all about.

What it's turned out to be, so far, for me? Sexy pictures.  (Thank you, sexisnottheenemy, for being so very NSFW!)

I started a folder for ... inspirational images I was moved to download (something my current laptop was sorely lacking! I'm not generally all that visual a person!). And I thought, "hey, these would make awesome prompts for a fic challenge!"

My questions for you guys are:

  • How would I go about hosting a whole buncha images?
  • I shouldn't worry if many of them are very, very explicit, right?
  • Should I worry if I haven't been saving credit/attribution information about these images, since I was only expecting to hang on to them for personal use?
  • How many images should I plan on having, minimum, with no idea how many people might want to participate?
  • Should I assume a weighting towards the slashy side of the force is appropriate, or should there be more of a balance?
  • How do I go about collecting images from *you* all to make sure that it's not just my aesthetic sensibilities being reflected, here?

If you've made it this far, you deserve a preview.

Linking =/= Reposting

I continue to be mentally foggy; I'd blame the painkillers but I ran out on Wednesday, dammit.

Anyway, the fun-filled xover_exchange challenge is still posting entries, so I should not re-post my story here.  But I forgot I could link!

For some reason this particular challenge always finds me at a total loss of simple skills I thought I had already mastered, like stringing words into comprehensible sentences that ultimately tell a story in the English language.  For the second time in a row, shayheyred has proven really patient and accurate with her beta advice on how to shape the mush that I manage to come up with into something resembling a short story.  (Not the biggest confidence-builder to have right before yuletide, but the exchange itself is definitely a fun way to indulge and proselytize the crossover love.)

I wrote the Leverage/White Collar crossover A Beautiful Friendship for yeomanrand (PG, Alec Hardison/Neal Caffrey flirting), in which Alec was still in high school the first time he was dragged into something by Neal Caffrey.

In exchange, I received the excellent BtVS/Sherlock BBC crossover The Classified Case (PG-13; DI Lestrade, Xander Harris) by ladyyueh, which explains what Lestrade was off doing during the Blind Banker and contains such memorable lines as:

John Watson only looked like a pushover if you weren’t paying attention

and

“You are not a puppy. I’m not letting you follow me home.”

Obviously, I am a very lucky recipient indeed! *g*
