One of my ambitions is to be a recluse, at least to have the option of locking myself away with plenty of food, alcohol and cigarettes. And DVD box sets. I'll admit to being addicted to these things, access to stuff you missed first time around. Totally inappropriate as well; I'm not at all the demographic for Buffy or Charmed but who cares.
One excuse is the skill involved in acting but also the whole storyboard/cinematography angle. I have always found film making and acting two impressive arts and generally watch not just for the entertainment but the analysis of how it's done, timing, camera angles and the like.
Maybe recluse is not the way, perhaps film making and moving in suchlike circles? I need a plan for all this, something to realise beyond the limited environment of my local 'scene'.
James Randi and Richard Dawkins. These entertainers masquerading as scientists make masses from the lecture circuit, taking money from gullible idiots who can't look or think for themselves. Anyone who can't see that astrology has a firm basis in fact is going through life with their eyes closed!
Fed up with searching uselessly for the official complaints channels, I have started a community for complaints about LJ: ljcomplaints
So, feel like a whinge or genuine complaint and don't want to be ignored officially? Post it here and be ignored anyway - you'll feel better about whatever it is.
I don't normally do rants but something has annoyed me....
Last week I made a comment about a cartoon someone had linked to on their LJ. The cartoon referred to astrology and other similar subjects in the standard, cynical way. I commented, fairly light-heartedly, that I considered there to be something in astrology. I knew it would rattle a few cages but wasn't expecting to get involved in a lengthy thread.
And I do confess to cheating :-/ The origin of the above quote is discussed at length here.
I may at some stage give examples from my own experience. Also, I'm happy to respond to reasonable comments but not get into a lengthy thread. I suspect I may just be talking to myself :-)
Those of you near Beccles/Bungay might like to visit the Locks Inn at Geldeston on Sunday (tomorrow, 4th May.) They are having a Beltane fayre; morris dancers, mummers, punk band and other traditional Maytime pursuits. Details on the website: http://www.geldestonlocks.co.uk/
Possibly a slightly cryptic post: I've crossed a couple of names off my friends list - nothing at all personal, it's simply to do with leaving Cambridge finally. I find reading about various events and happenings there makes me realise I am not a part of that scene these days (and, of course, having ones trust betrayed didn't help :-)) In fact, I may well have left a while ago, along with several others who were already part of things when I arrived. Whatever, new directions beckon, any fruits of which will be posted here as usual (if not on the 6 o'clock news :-))
