Lordkellen's News

Hello Everyone!

I'm finally buckling down and trying to create an identity for myself on the internet after many years of being a stubborn teenager who thinks they're too good to market their content, so I was doing some deep thinking, and I figured that the best way for me to connect with everyone was to introduce my characters and story I'm working on!

What is "Postmortem"?

In short? My whole world

The long answer?

Postmortem is the graphic novel series that I have been working on in several forms since middle school. Starting as just characters, becoming a novel, and then changing projects to a graphic novel, this is my passion project.

Postmortem is the story of a big family tree, tracing its roots throughout history, but starting in the 19th century. The first book is titled "Margaret" after the main character. Margaret is a troubled teenage girl who, after suffering a nervous breakdown while away at school, returns home to explore London with her ghostly father and try to make sense of her place in the world. She encounters Tristan, a poor boy her age who has seen more in the last few years than she's seen in a lifetime. They fall in love and everything seems to change after that as Margaret unravels the mystery of her father's untimely death.

There's so much to the story I still struggle to write a cohesive synopsis that covers all the bases, but that should do for now.

You can read about individual characters on my UnVale: https://unvale.io/LordKellen

which i HIGHLY recommend you do, just pick one and start! all their stories intertwine and you should be able to figure out something from each.

This project is near and dear to my heart, and I actually began illustrating it last year during college, but I chickened out and quit after starting to prepare a presentation to a publisher, as it dawned on me that this is REAL now, but I'm trying to work through it.

This is a quick one, but I am a brand new user with no experience on Newgrounds, so this might be like- duh- but it is SO refreshing to actually get an honest rating of my work?? I was so sick of posting stuff I knew wasn't my best and still getting sucked up to- which sounds bad- but I want to improve.

Only thing bothering me is when people rate my art low, they don't tell me what they dont like or what I could improve on, so please even if we're friends or mutuals, feel free to rate my art low and tell me what you think honestly! As long as you're as respectful as you can be, I probably won't get offended, I want to improve!

I'm gonna be so honest- I didn't think people used this website still? I mean I'm so glad they do- but I mostly hear about it on old web videos- so I thought I'd give it a shot! No other social media has really worked for me and I'm tired of catering to people, I'm too old for the puritanism bullshit they have on everything now- let me draw porn for Christs sake- I didn't grow up getting traumatized on the internet just to get bullied when I post age appropriate things online.

Anyways, my name's Kellen, I'm an artist from the Midwest who gets their inspiration from family trees, biographies, history, TV shows, books, normal things people like- but I tend to highlight the parts I see most people ignore. What is that exactly? I'm not sure, you're the audience, it's your job to analyze my work-

I think artists explain too much nowadays- quit asking questions and find your own answers- I'm not your fucking Wikipedia.

As sour as this post seems i really am a cheerful, optimistic person, im just a bit jaded right now which hopefully new medication will fix.

Thanks guys!
