The LooneyMUD group on Facebook suddenly exploded with activity this week. If you're on Facebook definitely check it out.
Because of this a couple of awesome Lewns have created a website with forum and links to Facebook accounts so you can see who's who (ie: RL name and LooneyMUD name- in color even!)
Also talk about creating a new LooneyMUD tribute MUD.
Hi to all my fellow lewns. On a whim I was looking to see if the mud still existed and I found the "new" site for Looney. I went on and found that I don't exist any more. Sad really but okay since I doubt I'll have time to mud much more this year than I have for the past 5. I did think I would come and say hi to anybody who remembered an off the wall creator named saxgoddess with her garishly colored name though. :) *waves*
LooneyMUD the Facebook group no longer supports or acknowledges the current 'version' of LooneyMUD that is being Administered by the player known as Cyberslayer (Micah Allen).
As of late he has demoted people who have played Looney for years and also lewns who are in good standing with the history of LooneyMUD. He has also demoted lewns who have contributed to the MUD as a whole without a reason as to why. He also refuses to allow former Admin/Law their proper place in the LooneyMUD hierarchy (Rooky, Danford, Geezer etc).
Last going off he has demoted Dumyenool (The Witch GM who is in good standing with most guilds....except for smelly Animators :) - with absolutely no reason on record.
In the spirit of Looney I will continue to support the ongoing goal of having the 'real' Looney hosted by either its previous Admin and Law or at least someone Looney enough to run the show.
It is my caution to creators that we absolutely refrain from contributing areas/domains to this ripoff of Looney, with no offense to Boogeyman and Shaman for their efforts in getting the bones of the old MUD up.
Just scrolling through the old screen names brings back memories. I was on from about 94-95, with a couple random logins here and there after, in the Witches Guild. You may remember me as the egotistical bi-polar kid that left dismembered remains he stole from other people logging out everywhere he logged out from while that option was still active- sheer quantities probably lagging the system as they decayed. 0;-) Secondary account was Looser son of Tighter, along with about 2-3 others I can't recall just for giggles. BTW- did anybody else ponder how we could be in Korea then take one step and be in Vietnam, or was this just a fact everyone else accepted while my racing thoughts worked overtime?

The great Animator in the sky has apparently seen fit to drop the paintbrush of creativity and insanity and of colors (a lot of colors), into the hands of a small few, who have taken up the challenge of re-animating LooneyMUD!
The foundations are set; we need to put aside our guild alliances for now and come together...what was that? a laser beam...hey! quit that!....ok sorry, now where was I?...right! The bones/outline of the MUD will be found here: http://rubberoom.org:8888

The current Admin are requesting your help in tracking down area/domains to plug in. If you have some, now is the time to dust them off!
I remember a few of the people I see here. You may or may not remember me as texan/ljofthemm/prophet. I've been talking about trying to recreate looney, and I'm glad to see there are others who want it back too!
It has been so long, but I think of you often, some more than others ;)
I hope everyone is doing well and is happy. I was lucky enough to know/meet a lot of you in real life and it was truly a pleasure. In the last couple of years I ran into Rooky and Danford (yay me!)
I play Everquest now...would love to know if anyone else here does.

Well as previously posted, the LooneyMud Guild on WoW is now a reality!!! There are only 3 members so far, but I hope to see more!! It is on the Arathor Server, Alliance. Just contact Netters (tLc), Hagathorn (Milky) or Kenmore (kenmore haha) to be invited! We have a newly designed tabard, which was the closest to what we believe a wumpie really looks like, and 3 bank tabs that need some filling :) We hope to see you all online soon!!!!
