This community was created to house a collection of tutorials for Loli's to use as a quick reference. Since it is a reference community, there are some strict rules meant for members to abide by. Please look them over before you begin posting. If you have any questions you feel would be inappropriate to post here, feel free to email the admin at Oshidori[at]uymail[dot]com.

  • CONTENT
All content MUST be related to Japanese Lolita and it's variants. This also includes Sweet Lolita, Gothic Lolita, Kodona, Wa-Loli, Qi-Loli, Gothic Aristocrat, etc. Yes, even Ero-Loli and Cyber-Loli are permitted in this community.

  • TOPICS
All topics must include a subject header that describes the tutorial you are submitting. They must also include a capitalized subject category in square brackets. This includes requests.

ex. [SKIRT] Metamorphose Lovely Alphabet Scallop Skirt

    Accepted categories are as follows:

[APRON] [BLOOMERS] [BLOUSE] [CAMI] [CHOKER] [COAT] [COLLAR] [CORSET] [CUFF] [CUTSAW] [CUTSEW] [DOLL] [DRESS] [HAIR] [HEAD] [JACKET] [JEWELRY] [MAKEUP] [NAILS] [PANTS] [PARASOL] [PJS] [PLUSH] [PURSE] [REF] [REQUEST] [ROOM] [SHOES] [SKIRT] [SLEEVE] [SOCKS] [TECH_DECO]* [TOP]

    * For cell phones, i-pods, cd players, laptops, etc.

*Please let the admin know if any categories have been left out.
**Any food-related tutorials/recipes, please post in egl_cooking instead.

  • LJ CUT STANDARDS
ALL of the tutorial must be under a cut, with the exception of ONE picture before the cut. It does not matter what the cut text says. If you do not know how to make an LJ cut, please refer to LJ's FAQ here.

  • PICTURES
If possible, please include pictures with your tutorial, as it makes following tutorials easier. You can also include pictures in your tutorial at a later time if you wish. If you decide not to include pictures, or cannot, please try your best to make your directions as clear to follow as possible.

The ideal format is to have one picture outside the cut, no larger than 500x500 px, followed by the tutorial and additional pictures placed under an LJ cut. Pictures placed under the cut have a maximum allowance of 600x600 px, if need be.

LJ paid accounts allows you to upload your images on to their server. if you do not have a paid account, you can try one of these sites to host your pictures:

    http://www.weblogimages.com/
    http://www.fotopic.net/
    http://www.deviantart.com/

*Any other site suggestions are welcome!

If you do not know how to add images to a journal entry, please refer to the LJ FAQ here.

  • REQUESTS
You can request a tutorial at any time, and the request DOES NOT have to be placed under an LJ cut. However, you are required to put a [REQUEST] heading in your subject header, along with a descriptive question.

ex. [REQUEST] Tutorial on Innocent World headdress please!

The actual subject can go into more detail about your request. You may include one picture, no larger than 500x500 px, and a link to the site hosting the item you are requesting a tutorial for. If someone is nice enough to offer to make you a tutorial, you are more than welcome to post more pictures of what you want, in the comments of your original post.

If you feel that your request was somehow overlooked and want to 'bump' it up, DO NOT POST THE SAME REQUEST AGAIN. Simply find your post, go into Manage~> Entries~> Click 'Certain Day' and type in this community name in the 'Community' space. Find your entry and simply change the date and time. This will automatically bump up your entry to the present date, and reduce clutter in the community. You can do this as many times as you want until someone agrees to make a tutorial for you. However, you may only bump an entry no more than once a week.

For those that decide to create a requested tutorial, please let the person who requested it know one way or another. Either reply to them in their original request, or link to the request entry in your tutorial.

Failure to comply with request standards will be subject to deletion.

  • DESIGNS
First of all, I would like to make it clear that according to U.S. copyright law, actual garments canNOT be copyrighted. Nor can most design elements be copyrighted, unless they fit the criteria for a patent. However, actual sketches, photos, and textile prints are indeed protected under copyright law.

If you are using a reference photo for an item from an existing store (and not your own sketch or photo), please do not post the photo using an url directly from that site. This is considered stealing, since you are using up their bandwidth. Any hotlinked images within posts will be deleted immediately.

Simply text-linking to the image is accepted.

Also, at any time, if any store or designer requests that their store or site images not be referenced, they will be listed on this page, and any posts containing images suspected to be from said sites will be deleted immediately. This also includes text linking to their site and/or it's images.

  • ANNOUNCEMENTS
Under no circumstances will Community Invites or Loli Gatherings be allowed to be advertised here. Since this is meant to be more of an archive than a social community, it does not make sense for such things to be allowed. Any such posts made will be deleted immediately.

  • INTRODUCTIONS
Likewise with introductions, there is no real need for them in this community, so please refrain from posting them. You may say a quick 'Hello, I'm new!' in your tutorial if you are posting one for the first time, but please leave it at that.

  • ETIQUETTE
It should go without saying, but please be reminded that if you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself! Flame wars WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! However, CONSTRUCTIVE critiques and helpful suggestions are welcome. It's also ok to have more than one version of a tutorial. So if you feel you have an alternate method of something that may be easier to do, or just to give people more options on how to approach something, by all means please post it!

If a tutorial is posted with any snide or condescending comments or cattiness towards an indivual or a previous tutorial in it's subject, it will be deleted immediately! No one likes a know-it-all; if you feel you are above the people you are claiming to help, then we can do without *your* kind of help!

Alternately, please remember that sometimes expression and emotion is hard to translate over the internet. Please do not jump to conclusions, or get overly defensive when someone posts a critique or offers advice on your tutorial. They are probably only trying to be helpful, so please remember to accept it graciously, and keep in mind that it is not meant as a personal attack on you or your abilities.

  • MEMORIES
Tutorials will be added to their respective categories in the community's memories, for quicker finds. The database will (try) be updated every week.

  • All posts are subject to moderation at any time. I will try to leave an explanation before your post is deleted or edited. If you have not received an explanation, or feel you were moderated unjustly, PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A POST ABOUT IT HERE. Instead, email it to me at ratrod[at]gmail[dot]com.
