A couple of firsts

Yesterday, Lizzie had a very awesome day (from my point of view- she's usually pretty happy kid on any day).
She told me a joke, spontaneously, correctly, and quite funnily! She heard it at preschool. It goes like this:

"Which fairy doesn't take a bath?"
"Stinkerbelle!"

At which I guffawwed. And I made her repeat it to as many people as I thought would also appreciate it. In fact, I called my MIL up on the spot to have Lizzie do it again for her.
My reaction was over-the-top positive, which might have contributed to Lizzie's subsequent obsession with the joke, particularly the punchline.

"Stinkerbelle!" she goes around saying, repeatedly, now. Oh well.

And then, more awesomeness. BIKE!

Lizzie has had a nice little bike since her third birthday, 14 months ago. She hasn't been able to ride the thing, 'cause there was a training wheel problem, which we got fixed last summer; but then, even though it worked, she couldn't ride it because she wasn't willing to push the pedals. Well, yesterday (when it was SO FREEZING, incidentally), she rode her bike, pushing the pedals and steering too, more than half of the way to the park.

I was bursting with pride and happiness for her new skill and mobility. It's hard for her; she struggles to push the pedals on the slightest incline. She slept well last night, for sure! But now she knows what to do, I bet her proficiency will increase like crazy, and then I'll have to run to keep up with her! It'll be great. :)
