Summary: Ren and Shinji stared blankly at the bed, and then at each other.
Ren and Shinji stared blankly at the bed, and then at each other. The air was silent and very, very awkward. When Auntie offered to take them on her vacation with Yui… they didn’t expect their room to have only a single bed!
Shinji decided to break the silence. “Well. So who’s sleeping where?”
Ren scoffed. “You obviously get the floor. You still have debt you owe me.”
“What?!” Shinji made another one of his unintelligible noises. He got up in Ren’s face, pouting like an angry little kid. “That’s not fair!”
“Doesn’t matter if it’s fair.” Ren pushed Shinji away, “This is how it’ll be. Unless you have any better ideas? …Though I doubt it.”
The gears in Shinji’s head started to turn. There was no way Ren would willingly sleep on the floor for him.
A light bulb went off. “How about we share?”
Ren looked at him in complete disbelief. Which quickly turned into frustration. “That’s a stupid idea! Of course you would suggest something so idiotic.”
“Well, can you think of anything better?”
After thinking it through, he wasn’t in the mood to argue with Shinji. “…Fine.” But if Shinji took up too much space, he wouldn’t hesitate to shove him off without remorse.
As Shinji slept next to him, Ren found himself staring at the ceiling. Completely unable to sleep. Why was he feeling so many things deep within his chest?
Shinji already brought up countless emotions Ren didn’t want to deal with. But tonight they were in overdrive. He could see how Shinji looked so peaceful. His lips were slightly parted—lips that looked so soft. And they were close together… It all only made these feelings even worse.
Ren groaned, this was a mistake. He should have made Shinji sleep on the floor.
