A/N: Playing around with some of my headcanons about the academy, and it not being the finest educational establishment. Done fortoku100challenge, prompt was Alchemy.
Summary: Hotaro reflects on alchemy and the academy.
Alchemy was truly something incredible to Hotaro. He had a lot of passion for the art form, and the entire world that surrounded it. Just thinking about it got him all hyped up, his heart swelled with excitement. Alchemy is the reason chemies existed after all!
It felt like the possibilities were endless!
There was so much he wanted to do! And yet… He still hadn’t gotten much of a formal education like he expected to receive.
While his skills improved thanks to the help of his friends and practicing together in their free time, he still felt behind in many ways compared to everyone else. He was a Kamen Rider! Kamen Riders were a legendary figure in alchemy! He felt should know more than he currently did.
Now that the academy was back to normal, he really wanted to finally begin to learn alchemy proper. Alongside continuing to catch the rest of the chemies, of course.
Minato-sensei really hadn’t done much of actually teaching him alchemy, huh. It was a realization he came to recently. He was a great man, Hotaro seriously looked up to him. That was the sort of skilled alchemist he wanted to become. But ever since he joined the academy, it was all about chasing chemies.
And while he’d never say no to finding more chemies that were out there, there was no time dedicated to actually learning the art of alchemy itself.
According to the others, it was like this for everyone else during their time there. They all studied on their own in lab periods. Barely having any lectures. This was apparently due to budget cuts, according to the many rumors that could be heard through whispers in the halls…
Looks like even secret schools weren’t free of that sort of nonsense either.
