About this book series

The Receptors book series, founded in the 1980s, is a broad-based and well-respected collection dedicated to all aspects of receptor biology. Originally centred on neurophysiology, the series has progressively expanded its scope to encompass receptors, neurotransmitter transporters and ion channels across all physiological systems.

The series publishes authoritative volumes that comprehensively review receptors for specific hormones, neurotransmitters, growth factors, cytokines, and other signalling molecules, as well as neurotransmitter transporters and ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels. Each volume is authored by invited leading specialists who provide an in-depth and up-to-date synthesis of the field.

Particular attention is given to the roles of receptors and ion channels in health and disease, covering their molecular structure, biophysics, cellular functions, pharmacology, and involvement in pathological processes. Recent volumes span chemical, physical, modelling, biological, pharmacological, anatomical, and drug-discovery perspectives, offering a multidisciplinary view of receptor and channel biology.

All books in the series are rigorously edited and maintain strong reference value, serving as essential resources for researchers in neuroscience, physiology, immunology, endocrinology, and pharmacology, as well as lecturers, students, and professionals in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences.
