From Vine to Glass

“It tastes good,” said Legolas, raising his glass so the light shone through the ruby red liquid.

“As good as Dorwinion?” asked Faramir.

“It has a fine bouquet,” said Legolas. “Ithilien’s vineyards might yet rival those in the vales of Celduin.”

Several glasses later, Faramir studied the wine thoughtfully and said, “Have you ever wondered why purple grapes produce red wine?”

“I cannot say that I have. I know only that both have a most agreeable taste,” said Legolas.

Just then, Éowyn appeared, carrying a plate of dark purple grapes.

Legolas nibbled one. “It tastes even sweeter than the wine.”
