-The Game and Position in Canon-
JK Rowling is amazing in plot, writing and characterization, and we hold her canon in great esteem. That being said, this game will only be canon-focused through HBP. After that, only key events will be continued (ie, Harry ultimately defeats Voldemort, Snape will become Headmaster, etc). Previous character deaths will remain in place (ie, Sirius, Dumbledore, etc.) The rest of the tale will be played out in the game. If you are a canon whore, and we say this with the greatest respect, this is not the game for you. No couples/ships are canon. Slash will be permitted in the game. Alternative plots, aside from key events, will be welcomed and encouraged.
Our game will begin with Dumbledore's funeral. If you can come up with a legitimate reason that your character would attend, do so. We'd like as many characters in attendance as possible.
-Rules-
01. Have fun. This is only a game.
02. You must be 18 to apply.
03. You may apply for up to two characters.
As the game progresses, you can request third character privileges from the mods.
04. No drama. A disagreement can be handled without drama, and that's what we expect.
05. Logs should be in third person, past tense. If you need an example, ask one of the mods.
06. Members are expected to be literate. We'd like to see decent grammar and proper spelling.
Spellchecker is your friend, but we more than understand that typos happen to everyone.
07. Treat other players the way you want them to treat you.
08. No powergaming or godmodding. If in doubt about what this is, ask a mod.
09. Be active. A game is only as fun as the effort you put into it.
We'll nudge you if you haven't posted and/or commented in a while.
We will eventually remove inactive players from the community; the character will be re-added to the open list.
10. Please include your favorite character and book in your application so we know you've read the rules.
11. At this time, we're not taking OCs. There's a huge list of HP characters to choose from.
12. Please follow LJ's TOS.
-Moderation-

We've included the definition to be neither cheeky nor autocratic. As former players and mods, we thought it important to define what moderation really is. We've played under strict mods, lenient mods and bewildered mods. We do not wish to be any of the above. Most of all, we want to be players. Aside from that, we take our role as game moderators seriously, especially when players need help or a little guidance. We want
lumos_hogwarts to be a fun, relaxed game, and we're wise enough to know that requires a little equanimity. That said, if you have a plot idea that you worry might be considered extreme, just ask us. You may be surprised by what we'll allow.As players, we want this game to succeed as much as you do. Your mods are Eb and Fable @
lh_mods.-Community-
lumos_hogwarts is the main game community, with announcements from Hogwarts, logs and group threads. lh_ooc is the OOC community. Both communities are for members only, and will be marked adult content. This should not be a problem if you're 18 or over.
The application and both the open and taken character lists will be public. We look forward to receiving your application!
