First, the apologies - my RL went absolutely *insane* at the end of November, and there were so many other drains on my time. But things have calmed down now, so I am restarting this comm and the ficathons, starting with the Lex/f ficathon.

Second, before we get to Lex/f, there are still two stories for the Clark/f ficathon that haven't been posted. I would just like to know if they will be posted at any time - if the authors have them ready or near to, feel free to post any time. If you're not going to finish, no harm, no foul, but I'd like to know, either comment to the post or email me at joannec at hwy.com.au and let me know.

Third, the sign-up post for the Lex/f ficathon will be up this week, I swear. I just need to co-ordinate dates.

Fourth, I've run into a slight potential hitch with the Lex/f ficathon. I know there are some people who borrow and write characters created by other writers, such as aelora's Hudson Clark Kent, and may wish to sign up to write/read these characters. The problem is, not everyone reads those universes, or could write the character even if they did. So I'm contemplating offering an alternative - if you wish to request Lex/author-created character, you will also be asked to request Lex/canon DC/SV character, and only one of the stories will be written. Why have I chosen to do this this way? Because not everyone reads those universes and if a lot of people sign up it will be, frankly, less of a headache for me to assign stories. It's going to be hard enough to match up if a lot of people ask for DC canon characters rather than SV canon characters (not that this should stop anyone from requesting DC canon characters), and anything that helps make it a little easier is needed badly.

The Lex/f Ficathon sign-up post will be up in the next couple of days.

If you have thoughts, suggestions, opinions, anything at all, the comments are open.

Well, I am humbly requesting input for my uber-work I want to do. Just consider this one huge free-for-all challenge with you all telling me stuff you'd like to see.

What am I writing? Well, nothing, much:

* Roll Your Eyes 'About Time', as Clark differentiates himself from Pa Kent's bigotry!
* Chill to the "Will he?/Won't he?" of Lex's turn to the Dark Side!
* Wonder at the tenor of Lex's Dark Side: is it really a Hero's Role a la Sageet?
* Muse at how Clark/Supes might need a counter-balance such as Lex!
* Gasp at the dastardly intrusion of The MB's plans (regarding Clark) into this already-maxed-out dynamic!

This is so big and involves so much of our hopes! We all have put so much heart and thought into how SV 'should have gone', I would love to make my contribution to satisfying a wonderful vision of what we know could have happened. Yes, I've been making my own notes, but I see now this is 'bigger than myself' -- and I think I like that.

Well, for those who don't know, I'm Joanne, and I've taken over the moderatorship of this comm.

I'm a huge Smallville fan of all ships possible, pretty much, I even like Clana sometimes.

This comm is the host for ficathons for the Year Of Lex Luthor and Clark Kent. There will be ten ficathons with approximately a month's writing time for each.

The stories from the first ficathon, the Clark/Lex ficathon have just been posted.

Signups for the Clark/f ficathon will remain open until midnight Friday October 15 (no matter what timezone you're in). Fics will still be due on November 13 as it's only a few days less. Assignments will be sent out on Saturday October 16.
