english major brain: words can evolve and develop as a society goes on. the way a word is used is its definition. it's pointless to hold onto the idea of right vs wrong words
human brain: THAT IS NOT WHAT LARP MEANS!!!!!
honey is the only food product that never spoils. there are pots of honey that are over five thousand years old and still completely edible
i also want to point out we know it tastes the same even after thousands of years b/c archaeologists who discovered two thousand year old honey tasted it. presumably right after they looked at each other and went “what the hell here goes nothing”
I’m pretty sure they also identify human remains by taste. Archaeologists are straight up freaks.
No, no no… you identify bone from rock or other substances by touching it to your tongue. If it sticks, it’s bone. The taste itself has nothing to do with it. And most archaeologists won’t lick human bones if they know they’re human.
…and I realize that doesn’t actually do much to prove archaeologists aren’t freaks.
mai nam is jane
and wen i dig
i fynde some roks
both smol and big
i put my tung
upon the stone
for science yes
i lik the bone
I’m sitting with a bunch of archaeologists and we just laughed so hard we CRIED we’re getting tshirts with this on them
I will never ever get tired of seeing bredlik poems. It is really one of the seminal art forms of the century. I am not being sarcastic.
If I ever don’t reblog this, assume I’m dead and archaeologists are licking my bones.
For the longest time I thought “wifeguy” meant a guy who was fantastically, enthusiastically in love with his wife, like some kind of Gomez Addams type lad. I was severely disappointed to learn it does not, in fact, mean that, and honestly I think we should retroactively change the meaning of wifeguy so that it does mean that, I want to live in that timeline
so what does it mean because i also thought it meant that
i knew it was mainly used pejoratively but i assumed this was because normal people (derogatory) don't like it when a guy loves his wife
if your website has an AI "assistant" that keeps popping up in the corner of my screen i hate you forever
"speak with nero" i'd really rather not i think!
the chatbot is probably not trained to be in-character as emperor Nero. i can't decide if it would be Better if it was, or Worse
it's really funny how the entire world basically just blew the fuck up six short years ago and nobody wants to admit that that may have had some lasting consequences lmao
like so much of Everything today is premised on the idea that the earth-shattering catastrophe which happened within living memory of everyone older than a third grader has had no meaningful material or psychological effects on the general public and i don't think that's good, lol.
"(some of) the top-line economic indicators (sorta) recovered (in most places) so everything is fine and we don't need to talk about it" is not a sustainable framework for interfacing with reality
