I'm still alive - reports of my death have been greatly exagerated. Okay, there weren't any reports, and no one exagerates about me (I'm big and scary enough as it is).
What's been going on since May? Not much, work, erm... and more work. A bit of blogging, and struggling to get through writers block.
Things are looking up - Supernatural's back *does a happy dance* - I shall post my extensive thoughts about that later though - because this series has my brain a whirling. Supernatural has definately filled the void left by BSG for, it's so big now, it's never really been a light program, but now we're into some real heavy shit. It gets heavier and heavier each season - which is impressive.
Not much else to say, for now - I'm coming back to this journal because I want somewhere I can excise my obsessive compulsion for analysing television. I now have somewhere for writing, not that it stops me mentioning it everywhere. I admit it, I love TV though - and the new season is reason to bring on the mass of brain dumps, that I usually pump into selected people's LJ's, bursting out of the LJ comment character limit (the first episode of SPN scored a whopping four part LJ comment, and there's still more to say).
I'll post more tomorrow, when it's not the whee hours of the morning - hope everyone's been well in my absence :)
Another TV post for you all, this time not extrapolating the virtues of the new comers Being Erica, Knight Rider, and Leverage over other more established series.
I've just watched the first episode of Joss Wheden's new show, Dollhouse, and straight off the bat, here are my thoughts:
Knee bad - well not as bad as work think, but still bad. Working from home this afternoon, do have lots to do though.
So TV, I want to talk about the television equivalent of crack cocaine - you may also know it as 24, (see, like what I did there?). It is without a shadow of a doubt the most silly, unrealistic, downright unbelievable show out there now, but I love it. Or I did, this season 7 seems to lack pace, maybe it's the lack of central point that was CTU, or maybe they're just warming up, easing us in before it blasts off to it's usually insane level of action and plot movement? I know the FBI malarky doesn't solve the lack of CTU, but some old characters return does soften the blow. I'm not liking the new president though - she feels superfluous, but maybe that will change.
All in all, season seven makes me long foe the heady days of seasons one through five, where anything could, or did happen.
I love the snow, without a shadow of a doubt, I love it - what it becomes is another matter, ice, slippy streets. Went arse over tit last night, banged up my knee pretty bad, it seemed to heal quite fast though - today it hurts like buggery, along with the left side of my body.
It's also snowing again, which should be cool, but after yesterday I'm not feeling it. That and I'm meant to be travelling a few hundred miles on Saturday, and the weather has me worried, british transport not being known to handle the following weather well Rainy days Sunny days Windy days Snowy days
Go figure.
TV was okay last night, but will save TV post for later...
Yay! Chuck's back, and it was good, not great, but good... I think safe is probably a good way to put it. It was and funny, but never riskily so, even if I did have to watch in 3D without the glasses. Not sure of the 3D benefits of this episode, over one of the more visually exciting ones... Maybe the producers just had a new toy to play with. This was a season arc free episode, which felt a bit disappointing, not even a short reveal reel at the end... It's only disappointing because I've read a fe casting spoilers - and they are spoilers so I'll not share (my big rambling plot considering, story spoiling posts are entirely my own thoughts, or the results of discussions with others).
Also watched last night was House, which as nearly always, was fantastic. You can't help but feel bad for Thirteen, even as you hate her annoying, bitchy, whining persona - it's sad that people are struck down by Hutchinson's, and I can appreciate that it would make you live life differently, but she's always been annoying, bitchy, and whining, now she's just more so. It does make House more entertaining though as his vicious jibes are twinged with care and concern.
Wow, I really can do TV posts, that's one thing off my list... If I keep ot up. Travel's another, as is meeting new people. In many ways, it's an ecellent start to the year. Rhat said my word count for literary endeavours is zero out of a two hundred thousand target... Oops... Lots of train time coming up, really should fit at least a short fic, story, or some words on my uncompleted NaNoWriMo novel.
The snow, so much of it, it's awesome. Am very much impressed, and so far my buses seem to be running on time. Am currently in town, waiting for my bus to work, though I work in the middle of no where, it's not always the easiest place to get to and from if the weather is bad, and it does get it worse there. Should be beautiful though.
In other news, TV this week was odd, what should be good (Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, and Smallville) proved to be, for me, disappointing, punctuated by some good stuff (teenage Dean on Supernatural for instance), meanwhile usually mediocre but enjoyable TV like Knightrider, and the US version of Life on Mars were pretty awesome. I think the rejig of Knightrider will be it's making, they've reverted it to a format more recognisable as the old Knightrider, which hopwpefully will give it some scope (in the earlier season format it would have been harder to keep stories going when the main human character's only weapon was a car). I haven't talked much about it, but the show down between Kitt and Karr was awesome, though disturbing since they used Optimus Prime's voice for an evil transforming car.
Right my bus is here, see you all on the otherside of no where. (though was my bus... So no where may take longer yet)
Well ain't life funny - well not really when you consider the myriad of parts. whether that's my life, on a microcosmic level, or the life on the world in a more macrocosmic sense.
I digress, mostly because I'm tired, oh what cruel fate decided that 10 hours sleep in a week is enough to sustain me in winter. Summer, yes, I have coping mechanisms then, that's part of my natural pattern - but winter is my period of sleep.
No early night for this chap though, it's a mate from work's birthday do, so we're off to a cheap crummie pub, befor karaoke
So, another TV post, this time for that most fantastic of shows Supernatural.
See, I love Supernatural, the style, the characters, the stories, the arcs, the mythology it's all so great. I'm loving season 4, it's big, the past three seasons appear so microcosmic in comparison.
However all is not great, I thought it was - I thought I was happy with the subtle progression of this season's arc after the roller coaster start, but then on Sunday I caught the season debut again and realised how much I missed the roller coaster. It was fine playing it cool upto Christmas break, but I had expected a return to pace following the Christmas break, I hope it picks up again soon. All the subtle plot movements are in place for the big Barney, and the battle lones to be drawn at all levels.
I did promise one, or several, but haven't gotten round to it - though that's not entirely true. I did write one, but end up private locking it, as I couldn't finish it (a fairly common problem for me, but less said, and all that), the text box that my phone provided to post with just wasn't long enough. It conked out at 369 words... which is shameful. I can do 1,500 word posts on an average day, on a bad day that can be as high as 4,000!
Hopefully my new phone won't suffer the same restrictions, since it's got a qwerty keyboard to type with.
Anyway... without much more of a superfluous introduction... a post about TV!!!
I wanted to talk about this fabulous TV show I've been watching. Being Erica it's called, and it's fantastic (I shall say this many a time about this show... because it is fantastic... I'm in love).
Anyway, when I come back from my various little holidays, and I've found I've got enough money left for a paid account with lots of icon space, I'm so going to have a whole set of Being Erica icons. My favourite new series this year... even more than Leverage (which is awesome, and a whle other post).
