I've finally written my second piece on Medium, this time about Twin Peaks and it being the greatest piece of television ever. Had a lot of fun watching it all, and also writing on it. This piece is less an analytical critique or examination of the franchise, and more so me expressing my admiration for it. The Criterion Challenge 2026

Arthurian legend by way of Bressonian mechanism. Stripped of mysticism and reduced to the rhythm of clanking armour, whinnying horses, waving flags, fragmented limbs, and longing faces. Battles elided and gestures repeated; we are removed from the graces of the spirit and deluged by the forces of the physical. A fruitless world, fated forevermore.

Really wish they devoted more time to the actual fight than to Rocky being a total creepo

I don't think anyone else better captures the innate contradictoriness of human beings than Rohmer. You'd also be hard-pressed to find films more unequivocally French than his.
