I would not have finished this except that it was short and I had already looked for something to watch for like thirty minutes. This is like Longlegs if Longlegs sucked (also if you think Longlegs sucked you should watch this to recalibrate your sense of what sucks). The acting is bad and this movie looks like an episode of Criminal Minds. I did kind of like that the killer was trying to do more than just slash a few people but a vaguely interesting back half doesn't make up for an awful first half.

This one is fun. Very silly. Feels like they were sort of out of ideas on what to do with Jason but also there's some inventive kills and decent effects. I've finally watched all the Jason movies and I got to say they are pretty good overall, I understand the appeal. There's a very specific sort of vibe to these movies that is often attempted but rarely achieved by imitators/parodists.

My only real complaint is that this movie felt like it was on fast forward at times, the plot moves so quickly and there are some logical leaps but otherwise this was a hell of a movie. Alison Brie and Dave Franco are really good in this. The scene in the bathroom really made me squirm in my seat. Would be a good double feature with "The Empty Man".

a masterpiece. better than Chinatown. it's a special effects spectacle that also has great performances. also very funny throughout.
