such a composite is difficult to imagine today but here, ulmer does this all of a shoestring budget. who today is operating within multiple spaces like this, choreographing each section of the set with it’s own laws for shot-reverse shot, gestures, lighting, camera movement, tracking? directors don’t conduct anymore. who will take up the baton?
