Yeah… skip The French Connection and go straight to this. Friedkin kicks it in to 15nd gear in ways you haven’t seen before. I found many random transitional shots to be absolutely mesmerizing. One of Defoe’s best movies and that’s saying a lot.

Absolutely scarifying I was squirming in my seat all throughout. Obsession takes full advantage of Inde Navarette’s exhilarating performance and squeezes as much sinister nectar out of it as possible. The sound design was especially well executed and made every scene after the first act incredibly tense. Plenty of memorable moments, this film takes all your expectations and follows through with them on such an uncomfortable level that you can’t help but watch with your eyes half covered. J-horror fans will spot the Pulse homage and be forced to enjoy the rest (I don’t make the rules).
