loved the score and camera work. first act in particular was very strong. thought a lot of editing was smart and trusted the audience to pick up visual queues. felt like the deliveries make Andy weir's style of humor come off as charming as opposed to you know, a dad commenting on reddit.

Movie opts for a buddy comedy more than hard sci-fi, which I would have been interested in. But I think this works bc the characterization of Rocky…

good melding of personal grief w the feeling of powerlessness climate catastrophe gives. u can argue there's a rejection of radical action w simple platitudes of "everyone is actually good :)" but imo I think the film lays out from the begining a real "we're all in this together" and a much more earnest…
